Packing 720 lumens into a 2.5-inch frame, the Nitecore TIP2 is a little brick you’ll never leave home without. Powered by a 500mAh internal battery and two CREE XP-G3 LEDs, the TIP2 drastically outperforms its small stature Read More
All electronics (particularly occasional-use devices like flashlights) should use readily available/swappable battery standards. You can choose to use rechargeables in common battery types but you can also swap batteries and be functioning again immediately if your battery is dead.
Why don't engineers understand the principles of internal batteries destroying the ability to be immediately usable at all times, regardless of whether you've charged it or used it for a few months? It also shortens the useful life of the device because many aren't easily serviceable/replaceable by non-technical users so the just throw them away. There is nothing green or renewable about that. It's stupid.
Design products that support AA AAA C D 9v CR123A etc and stop with the e-wasteful internal rechargeable battery practices.
Please pass this message on. Only you can stop poorly thought out products and short sighted engineering.
I bought one of these. Overall it is okay but it could be much better and that is what bugs me...
Output is good, the light feels good although a little heavy, the brightness steps are good. The UI, however, could be much better IMHO. I wouldnt have thought that it would bother me as much as it does...
Turbo is only temporary and accessible only and always from an extended press on the Mode switch.
I wish Turbo were simply a normal mode. Hitting the wrong switch wouldnt have any effect (currently you are slapped in complete darkness with temporary Turbo if you pick the wrong switch), and Turbo could run also when the light is attached (currently it switches off as soon as you release the button). Given that the flashlight is anyways temp regulated, I believe the current set-up is definitely not the best in actual use.
For items commonly available on Amazon, you pay-n-pray here on Drop. I even forgot that I ordered this flashlight. Drop is no longer what Massdrop used to be.
Get this light. Don't even question it. It's been my daily driver on my keychain for over a year, no issues whatsoever. Better than any other keychain light, and I've owned all of Nitecore's keychain lights.
Nsk1979Yes. I gave away my TIP CRI when I received my TIP2. After a few weeks of using the abysmal UI, I ordered a new TIP CRI and gone back, no regrets whatsoever. The new TIP SE is interesting, but the Osman emitters have lousy 80 CRI, unacceptable in 2020.
This looks like something worth getting once it's available again.
Can anyone comment on whether a magnet built into a light like this can magnetize a mechanical watch movement?
It seems like the magnet might be pretty strong.
If the magnet can have a negative impact on automatic and manually wound watch movements, then this is one I'll have to avoid.
Thanks.
Wow still using micro USB. No wonder they don't mention what type it is or show a picture of it.
Is the magnet in it strong enough to ruin credit cards? I keep my keys and wallet in the same pocket.
