Please not that I spoke to Neph about the green (compared) to the GMK renders and we agreed that in studio settings and certain lighting, the green has a sheen that is reflecting by lights. I've included some non-studio photos to let you guys have an idea of how the color can be seen in different situations. It is indeed a dark, rich green IRL.
Difference between last version and current drop -

Hey everyone,
It's tricky to capture the exact shade of green in photos since it does look darker and more green in real life. Here's a quick shot of how the deskmat looks in a more accurate environment (outside of a studio), taken by an iPhone. Keep in mind that the white balance may be slightly off from the phone!
Based on comments and concern about the color compared to the renders in the GMK keycap set, we've decided to pull the drop for now and wait until a finalization of a color that more accurately matches the renders that everyone will be happy about.
Thanks for your patience!
Hey All,
You may be aware from @SpencerL, but I've requested this part of the Kaiju drop to be pulled. There are concerns over its color matching the keycap set, and ultimately I want you all to get the deskmat you were promised. After we get some revised and more accurate samples we will proceed again.
The decision to pull the drop was a hard one to make, and to those who had already committed, those hoping to get in on day one, and especially for those of you who may prefer this color over the one that will be, I'd like to personally apologize. Ultimately it came down to vision for the project, and I wouldn't be comfortable with the mismatch.
Thanks for understanding,
Neph
RayFYou might be surprised as I was.
I hate mouse pads, never use them. As soon as optical mice go to the point that they did not need a special surface to function correctly, I tossed my pad.
However, on a whim I ordered a desk mat this size from a giant online retailer.
I must say I'm pleasantly surprised that I like it. Sort of defines a section of my desk, and has plenty of space for mouse use (I always went of the edge of conventional mouse pads, one reason I didn't like them).
It's a more comfortable surface for my mousing hand to glide along (I'm on a computer all day at work).
YMMV
KarlMarximusWe've found that the white deskmats can't reliably make it through QC without blemishing, so I decided to pull those and proceed only with the green variant.
What a shame. I really like the color on this current mat. Doesn't match the very dark green of the keycap set but still, it's a lovely shade of blue/green. Any chance of getting my hands on this color mat?
Sunshyniglad to hear you received yours! As @SpencerL said above, the deskmats do have some mildly reflective properties so studio lights tend to bounce off them oddly and affect the representation of color. In normal lighting situations these should appear much closer to the final keyset
