The Steinhart Nav B Uhr is an awesome piece. I have the 44mm Type A automatic and it is one of my favorites. For Type B dials Inalso have the Geckota version in 44mm And the Orient Pilot 42mm; both of those are interpretations of a Type B dial and both have their inherent charms.

Crystal states it's sapphire, but Panzera's website indicates it's S-Lex with AR Coating. Can you clarify?

bluejay68The watch has AR reflective coating S-LEX glass. However S-LEX out coating offers very similar scratch resistance to AR Sapphire but this type of glass also has better resistance to shock

RoySmitI think it looks good! The watch face is large for a good historical reason as others have stated, to be easily read. In this photo the day-dates stuff almost disappears - which is good.

this looks worse than the old model, and 47 mm is a cruel joke. either you're a huge dude or you look like a clown wearing this, no in-between. the latter point automatically eliminates probably something like 90% of potential buyers. really sucks.

IWC were one of the original companies comissioned by the German airforce to make this type of watch back in the day, and today there big pilot is 47mm - seems like this one is on par for authentic size?

40-50mm watches is the norm for guys watches. Breitling, Omega, IWC, U-Boat etc all make 47mm+ mainstream watches. There is not one size fits all but if building a Flieger makes sense to be at the higher end of this range. I don't have a big wrist but can just get away wearing a 50mm watch and for me 47mm is pretty normal. But there are plenty of alternatives out there if you want /need something smaller.

Bummer about the crystal being plastic - this is only draw back to my Seiko 007. The crystal just gets scratched so easily. While my 5 year old Fortis Cosmonaut daily driver is still scratch free. The sapphire crystal is now a deciding factor for purchase. It is so worth it!! Pretty sexy watch, though.

Better Fliegers out there can be had at this price point. The Steinhart Nav B-Uhr comes to mind....

Gnomon Watches is the only authorized Steinhart dealer I know of. They have a web store too. I bought my Nav B Type A auto and the Ocean 1 500 Titanium direct from Steinhart though.

As a bit of pilot watch fanatic I purchased the black plated version with aged brown strap in a previous drop. After a few months I can report this has become one of the favs in my (growing collection)... It has a solid quality feel that I wasn't expecting at this price level. The readability is brilliant, which I wold imagine is due to the coating they have applied to crystal. Keeps really great time. Less than 10 secs variance in 3 weeks so can't complain. The 47mm size was originally a bit of a concern, but it fits really well on my small wrist - Overall a great piece.... Only issue is, I didn't get a free pen... How about sending one over Massdrop?

dynamo72Looks good! The three dates shown at once is weird though, as is the word Panzer on an airman's watch. Are the numbers on the dial and the hands glow-in-the-dark?

I have the Aquamarine model. Might pick this up for this pics. Paid a lot more for mine. Right before it sold out...I highly recommend! (Strap is a custom made for the watch)

Glad to see they have improved the spec compared to their previous version and with a much cleaner style also. Was never a fan of "busy" pilots watches - too distracting. The red tip on the end of the seconds hand however is a nice touch.
