Really, Massdrop? I just picked up my parcel , and examined the contents. I am NOT a happy camper. You said you'd send 6 cartridges of ink. Every single cartridge I got was half full and showed evidence of being dried out at the top.

Those stripes near the top? That's dried-up ink. The blobs at the very top? That's ALSO dried-up ink. That is NOT getting six ink cartridges. That's getting outright garbage. And don't you DARE try to pull the BS that it must have dried during transit. That will be lying on your part, and I won't tolerate MORE lies from you. What kind of shady operation are you people running there?

AquariaTXThat sucks but happens a lot. Cartridges sit a lot before reaching end user. Pop the top, add distilled or even tap water, shake well, and you'll be good as new. Since the ink isn't waterproof the dried stuff should reconstitute fine.

Pelikan web site says 2 shorts or 1 long. Found one blog that mentioned converters, so it should probably take a standard international converter. Nib size is Medium.
Gotta figure these nibs are basic, and not up to the level of a 200 nib. I have a couple Pelikan school pens; they were total nails, but that's what you'd expect. Kinda figure these will be similar.
Totally thought the color cartridge boxes looked like a tampon box

The clip does NOT have the signature Pelikan beak. Sheesh Massdrop, get your s*** together.

Really like this little pen, despite the polished chrome section, which is very slippery. The nib on both of mine were quite dry, and they were in there very tightly, but with some gentle wiggling and a paper towel they came out and were easily tuned.
The hinged clip is really nice, thusfar they haven't had any hard starting issues (they were dry to the point of requiring pressure to write initially) and both were quite smooth. The snap cap is secure and the hinged clip is really sweet. The lacquer on the barrels and caps is top notch, too, the pearl white glistens.
Cap posts nicely and doesn't unbalance the pen, length is good posted or not
I don't love medium nibs, but this is a good one.
Overall, a very simple, well made, understated pen that may require a little tweaking of the nib to write wetter.
My only complaint was one of the two boxes of cartridges I got was really old. the turquoise cartridges were half-desiccated through the plastic, and I think the pen should come with a converter.

Does this pen have a metal or a plastic barrel?

Does this have a #5 nib ?
Also, I'd jump right in if this had fine as nib option.

ardapelikan never offered it with a fine, but it is a #5 nib. Both of mine were very dry writers but a little tuning fixed that.
I did get one box of very, very old cartridges that were half dessicated.

Are these compatible with any converters? Also, how is it compared to the M205, especially the nib performance? :)

Yeah, I guess it'll be limited by its size XP

phoenixsongThis is nowhere near as good as the M200 series, and it's unreasonable to expect that at this price point. Mine seems to need a wee bit of tinkering to make it not so dry, but I'll run some Waterman Serenity Blue through it first to see if it's the ink I first loaded into it or the nib that's off. WSB will tell me which it is.

I'm new to fountain pens. I happen to have a jar of ink, however. Can this pen be dipped into that jar and then written on paper with? Or, do I need to dump the ink into a cartridge to be able to use it?

Scotyou can use a syringe to refill the cartridges if you're wanting to use bottled ink, but be sure that it is specifically FOUNTAIN pen ink (not India ink, or artist's ink, or basically anything sold at Joann/Michaels/Hobby Lobby or other craft stores.) or you could very well end up destroying your nib or feed. or you can get a converter that has a piston in it to pull the ink up into itself and use that instead of the cartridge.
