A favorite at this year’s CanJam expo, the Phatlab Sassy is a portable headphone amplifier with a unique single-ended triode and solid-state hybrid design. At its core are a pair of JAN6418 tubes, one responsible for amplifying the left channel and the other responsible for the right Read More
I don't normally buy audio gears without auditioning them but this Phatlab amp impressed me when I had a chance to try it. It drove my Abyss headphone effortlessly and will have ample power to spare driving any big cans.
But why only 4 units for this drop?!? What a waste of space as if you don't want anyone who wants one to get one? Cmon MD you can do better...
I was genuinely surprised by the power contained within this little Sassy...man it looked so small I was in shock to see how this drives even my power hungry Abyss easily. Now I want one of these...
ShyanThe first time I heard the Sassy II it was powering the Abyss as well. I've had the unit for almost a month now and it's simply stellar in build and performance. One of its strongest points for me is being compatible with everything I plug into it, from full sized phones to sensitive IEMs.
The manufacturer doesn't seem too interested in selling these. They do not respond to emails and certainly don't monitor forums and places like Massdrop despite their product being highlighted. Potential buyers among us can't get any questions answered. Even a reviewer of this amp can't get responses from Phatlab. I lost interest due to limited info and have no confidence in reaching the company should I have any issues with their $600+ amp.
