A fixture in homes, studios, and audiophile setups around the world, Pioneer is back with another high-performing speaker. It’s called the SP-C22, and it’s a center-channel speaker—which means it’s responsible for roughly 50 percent of any video’s soundtrack, including the majority of the dialogue. Not taking this responsibility lightly, Pioneer tasked its Chief Speaker Engineer, Andrew Jones, with designing the SP-C22. Jones used a revolutionary six-element crossover design, breaking the speaker into six distinct circuits, each dedicated to a part of the frequency spectrum. This results in more accurate sound reproduction: crisper dialogue, crunchier crashes, and more realistic explosions. Optimizing sound quality elsewhere, the SP-C22 features a true curved cabinet design with double grills to reduce standing waves and protect its drivers.
