For those who might be interested in such a thing, I have reviewed this stove system; see below link. Basically, I really liked the system. It's more flexible than a tall, skinny Jetboil in terms of what you can cook, and you can use any cookware with the stove without any adapters or modifications. Like a Jetboil, you get fast boils and good fuel economy. The only serious negative in my opinion was the windscreen which really doesn't do much for you.

Danny,
The piezo is OK but heavy, about 0.6 oz. I think a Soto piezo is like 0.1 or 0.2 oz. The part I really didn't like was the windscreen. I really don't think it's an effective design. They'd be better off scrapping it and reducing the cost of the stove system.

Good point about using the pot on other systems Danny. The price of the entire kit is actually pretty darn reasonable that it may make sense to buy it just for the heat-exhanger pot itself.

I've had this stove for over 2 years now and I can't say enough about it. The versatility of this setup is outstanding! First and foremost it boils water quickly with the heat fins. It's not a Jetboil but the difference in seconds is an easy tradeoff for the amount of things you can do with this stove. Hell, I've even grilled, margherita pizza wraps from Packit Gourmet in there and they came out perfect! The only negative I would mention is the piezo lighter that ultimately will stop working at some point. But that seems to be the case with most built in lighters.

Screen works well. I haven't had it in super high winds but it has been windy and performed well. It adds little weight and packs easily too. I know it sound like a salesman for this set but in my limited experience with cookware and modest experience in the woods there hasn't been a situation where I've needed something else. Heck a pot like this also is great for gathering water to pour in a bag too!

bootlegger22I do like how this pot can be used on other stoves, and the stove can be used with other pots. This makes it a lot more flexible if you want to have a two pot meal, or one pot for hot water and one for cooking. Or, you could use a lighter stove and leave the windscreen at home for an even lighter setup. Hmm, I'll have to try this on some stoves tomorrow.

How does this compare to the lite series? Those looks more windproof and potentially higher efficiency.

Thanks! Will check it out!
Thanks Jim you answered my question before I even asked it. Recently got a Windburner, no doubt it excels at boiling in all conditions but it's a one trick poney and I'm still shopping for something windproof I can actually cook with.

I have used this kit for over 2 years and I love it. I bring it with me when I go hikking for several days or simply camping.
It will make happy hikkers for whom cooking remains important even away in the bush. It will be a very good upgrade from your old pot. The simmer control is ok, also they could have fit the stove with a wireframe control valve... would have make it better for simmer control and ergonomy. The pot coating is fragile but if you use plstic cutlery it will remain intact, mine don't have a single scratch.
This kit is not for people looking for the lightest option and if you are looking for a water boiler, although this stove is very efficient, you'll find better and lighter option with Jetboil stoves.
You can fit a 100gr can + burner + a few more accessories or go for a 230gr that just fits in.
This 1L set (pot, lid, bowl ans windscreen) fits nicely in the Primus 1.6L ETA set (pot, lid, and bowl) which is very convinient if you are more than 1 or 2. However, the diameter of the stove is on the edge so the bottom of the 1.6L pot may have to sit straight onto the stove stands and the 1L pot windshield does not fit the 1.6L pot and Primus doesn't have a 1.6L wind shield: so the aluminium windshield sheet is then required.
The only issue I had is with the Piezo : it stopped working very quickly, returned the stove twice and eventually gave up. Unfortunately, the model without piezo don't have the small stand that hold the windshield in place... so you'll have to carry your dead piezo with you. But this should not stop you for getting one of them... but you wouldn't go camping without a lighter anyway, would you?

Toma@Toma if you have a small Phillips screwdriver, it's pretty easy to remove the piezo.

Is it okay to use a titanium spoon to stir in that pot?
Also, because of the non-stick coating, I feel compelled to carry the bowl (which I don't really need) just to protect the coating from the canister etc. (I suppose I could use a bandanna)
Am I being overly protective? Is it tougher than I think?

chuggerI use a buff to keep the canister wrapped up in mine. Mainly so it doesn't rattle around when I'm on the bike.
Love this set - I've had it for a few years and use it frequently on moto and bicycle overnights.

chuggerI have used a titanium spoon and haven't had a problem, but then again I am not scraping the pan. I didn't think I was going to use the bowl either, but I have been using it.

Question: a 100g fuel cannister obviously fits inside but what about the 230g cannister? Does the bigger size fit in the pot?

WindowlickerIt fits but will not leave room for the burner itself. With a 100g cannister everything can fit inside the pot. The drawstring bag it comes with is fairly stretchy though, and I've stored it with a 230g and the burner on the outside of the pot, but inside the bag just fine.

Just a nit pick about the description as I had an old school Primus stove in the 1970's so when I read Primus since 1982 I was perplexed. Primus since 1892 sounds way better.

Does anyone know if Massdrop has a phone number? My stove was marked as delivered on 9/30, but I did not receive it. I have been waiting a few days to hear back from customer service after submitting support requests. I'm pretty bummed because I was hoping to use this stove on an upcoming trip. Now I don't know if I should order something else or wait for a replacement...

Would this primus set be worth it over the primus eta lite set on Amazon for around the same price?
