After watching a couple reviews this knife is definitely on bearings and the handle is a little thicker at .55 but the edges are all chamfered so should fill the hand nicely. The thumb hole is nicely chamfered and should finger flick nicely. No internal milling but weight is respectable for the size and pretty close to accurate in the description here at 4.55 oz on LTKs scale. No liner on the G10 side which i like. Depending on where the blade is measured it's anywhere from 3.75 to 4 inches. I like big folders and 154cm is plenty good for me and helps keep the price point in check although I'm not really a huge fan of bead blast finishes but if everything else is right I can overlook that . It's a personal preference anyhow. My only concern is not knowing the BTE measurement. being a .150 blade stock thickness I hope it is ground to an acceptably thin edge I have a buddy who owns one of these so I just shot him a message to get his input but it looks to be a pretty good deal and one of the more affordable Rike models. Even w discount codes its still about 20 bucks more everywhere else and wo a code 35 more. I don't need another knife and have already bought several this week but My finger is itching to join!

Yes it's a very subtle thing that can make a big difference for some people who tend to put a bit of pressure on the lock bar with their fingers. It does the same for the pocket clip and the manufacturer can then place the clip wherever they choose without having to worry about any undue pressure going down the lock bar. I have the we deacon and bishop and I can say the bolster lock on those makes for a near perfect action both opening and closing (since most of my knives have great action opening I'm more impressed with the drop shut action I feel when closing the knife). The lock bar disengages smoother than any other knives I own. I'm hoping for the same thing with the Lambert. Part of me is intrigued by the new pena x series diesel models. I know I can get one of those (or the lannys clip) for 300 or so and have it now. But everytime I look at the pics of the arctic storm FatCarbon and think of how great it will be in combo with a light blue titanium framelock I remind myself that being patient sometimes brings the best things in life. And even though it is rebranded cpm 154, RWL 34 is a steel I do not own. It adds a bit of something to the collection that is not already there. I have many m390 and s35vn knives and love trying steels I have not used before. As an electrician and heavy user of my knives I love seeing how a steel performs in the field. I have used a griptilian made of 154cm for years and it has worked great. It's very easy to sharpen and is light years ahead of say 8cr13mov, aus 8, and 420 hc in terms of edge retention. I do live in fl and wish it was a bit more stain resistant. It is hard to justify a knife in this price range using a steel that some may not classify as a premium choice. But there are many protechs I'd be interested in buying in the 200-250 range using 154 cm. Sometimes it's not always about steel choice. That said if this thing was made of elmax, cruwear, lc200n, or even m4 I'd be all over it without even a bit of hesitation. I guess it's always nice to dream right?

Laxnerd213I have no problem with rwl34. In fact m390 is one of the more difficult steels for manufacturers to bring to its full chemical potential. Im sure youve heard of the controversy around that lately mainly with a certain italian knife brand and all the HRC rockwell testing going on now in the knife community bringing those issues to light. Rwl is a safe bet that its heat treat is done right and for most users is more than adequate although reate does a does a fine job with ht anyhow either way but some other companies do better with easier to ht steels and not so much with say m390 to pick on it again. Honestly like you said its not always all about the steel bc there is truly little real world difference for the average user when dealing with upper end powder steels anyhow comparatively. Maybe the user sharpens their knife or strops it 4 times instead of 3 in a given period. I too own lots of the same steels in my collection and a new one is always welcome but not nessasary.

The black model on MD looks to be stonewashed which I like, The same knife on Blade HQ appears to be soild black which I do not like. There is nothing worse than scratches on a solid black knife and it will scratch and look hideous in no time. In stoneash the scratches kind of blend in. If all the titanium parts of this knife are stonewashed MD should say so, it is ridiculous that possible customers have to guess these things which will unfortunately make me not buy it

I think it's straightforward. If they're an investment, they're an investment -- your actions can depreciate them. If they're a tool, they're a tool, one that's either engineered and built to withstand real use, or not. Go one way, go the other, you'll be fine. I think trying to do both amounts to performing penance. I don't think any one approach is superior, I think that like the knives we discuss, each approach is a tool to choose and use if it suits your needs. Microtech make legendary blades and you, having attained the position of owning a bejesusload of them in a year's time, are in market intelligence terms, better positioned than most people to see what's best about them. You're also in a position to see early on what others might not see, as you indeed have -- which is that on the resale market you will really need to have left the knife in its box for it to attract top investment dollar, that the people who think 'eh a little light use won't be a big deal if I need to resell it' will be in for a shock. Either way there's a rub for you, because you like holding and using the knives you're buying, but you are seeing them as investments as well.. I think you need to choose whether you're the guy who has the complete Microtech collection or you're the guy who buys and uses the Microtechs that will not show light wear because they'll have better resale value. Not sure you've considered it but you could also be the guy who capitalizes on your market intelligence and buys several choice black Microtechs and leaves them in the boxes in storage, planning on cashing in on the fact that 'true black original clip' will probably be a selling feature in 2026. I mean you don't really need to choose, but you'll be bothered by it until you do. Frankly this is all why I look for functional value more than resale value, I'm not a businessman, just a guy who thinks he who dies with the most worn out toys probably had the wildest ride. Lots of other ways to see it. :)

TBH this is actually a great price considering the good material as well as the fit and finish on par with WE knives. Im surprised that this isn't more popular. I suspect that it's due to size, as i've seen a trend at massdrop where smaller knives tend to be more popular. This at 8.7 inches overall isn't really very EDC friendly IMO. Also, i suspect that drop like this is also overshadowed by all the new Massdrop collaborations i.e. Crux, Falcon, Keen etc. which all have similar prices to this, so im afraid this drop is being cannibalized. Perhas MD should space these drops out a bit more

massdrop01Agreed on all points, specially about length. At nearly 9'' it's a non-starter for many.

massdrop01Since we're necroposting I'll say that more people may be buying small knives, but the majority of the actual knife drops are for larger knives in the range of 3.5". Of the 18 or so folders right now, two are at 3" and only one less than 3".
Just as well actually, I don't need to be spending more money on knives right now.

In the blacked out version is the titanium backside black and is it tumbled as the blade is? There is no picture of the backside of this knife.
Spokes30If it's the same as the 802GB on BladeHQ, it will be black lock side. It looks pretty nice

I'm a little torn. I'm enamored with Rike at the moment, but it's still feels like a lot. I think the lack of skeletonized liner on the G10 side is what gets me about this.

MaxwellDemonicI'd prefer it without the liner. Saves weight and it's not like it'll ever break on you

Another knife dropped then almost immediately canceled? Wth?
If memory serves; drop listed retail at $150, opening price at $135, final drop price at $120. Surely this can't be re-opening higher than that?!

Because, as has been noted previously, Drop has a bad habit of not reviewing when they're renewing. I.e., when they put an item up a second . . . or third . . . time around, it seems no one looks over the copy or the pictures to see if the original versions match the item now being offered.

I just got one of these 3 days ago. Got the "Blacked Out" version. Gonna take a bit for the detent ball to to cut through the DLC coating and polish the blade but it's already drop shut smooth.

WoodyBaltoRike does a good PVD, don't they? I've got a ZD-006 and it did take awhile to break in, but it's one of my best knives as far as action goes. Top two or three probably.

Nice knife, so I'll have to complain about something else. Two piece handle? Is this the latest and greatest? Not having any knives with an intergral handle, all my knives have two pieced handles. And when did 154CM become a premium steel? It's good. I can't argue that. I have some knives in 154CM. CPM154CM is better. I have some of these, too. Some Kershaw Launches and a Leek. I can tell the difference in edge retention and achievable sharpness. I don't attack hanging meat or defenseless sisal rope, so you will simply have to accept my impressions as being reported honestly. If I didn't just spend hundreds in the last week or two, I would very likely pick this up. I have no Rike to Like. Sniff. sob. It would be nice if there was someone who had a clue that was in charge of proofing the ad copies. Are you listening, Jonas? I could work from home. All you would have to do is to send me a sample of the knife and the ad copy. I could test the knife and give an honest opinion, unsullied by any resentment that I might have due to the price. And I could make sure that the ad was well written, grammatically correct, and enticing. Well, two out of three for sure. I still like it when I see good deals here.

Good deal and Good looking piece. I find the lock side is reminiscent of my lionsteel tre with the milled lines. I like a larger edc when the weight and pocketable is right but I dont own any Rikes nor handled one. Are they comparable to Kizer or We knives in quality, is this on bearings or washers, and is it a good slicer or is it thick behind the edge?

CdoyleThey're pretty awesome, a little more hit/miss than WE in my experience but the good ones are outstanding. This, the M3, or the ZD-006 would all be a good way to try their stuff out.

OmniseedI actually ended up picking that model up on the drop. Its a pretty nice folder. A little thicker behind the edge than I prefer but i knew that going in. For 100 bucks it was a great deal imo.
