mcmuffooI've had the 12" for 6 months, awesome punchy bass. It's not going to be as loud or boomy as a ported box, but it's more accurate and clear. I listen to mainly rock and metal, and it certainly gives you a kick in the back from the bass drum and bass guitars. Dance music fans might prefer a ported box, but these are great IMO.

Did anyone install this themselves, or does it need to be professionally installed (more specifically, do the power canes need to be installed professionally)? I installed my own aftermarket receiver in my car, but running cables to the battery makes me a little bit nervous.

JuanbondWhen i purchased my goal was to do a self install on a 2009 camry. I really didn't know what I was doing and ended up getting it professionally installed, charged me over $200. It was super expensive but the install is super clean and works perfectly.
JuanbondSomething I can't recommend enough for anyone looking to install a sub in their trunk is to place some foam under the license plate. I've seen quite a few people go down the rabbit hole trying to dynamat their entire car when the rattle was just coming from the license plate.

As far as I'm concerned, this is the best all in one subwoofer enclosure in the entry level price range. The construction is rock solid. I have mine paired with a Rockford Fosgate 3 ways and components in the front. It balances the sound perfectly and is punchy and clear. I'm still amazed at how much bass comes out of this speaker on most days. It's not competition level sound, but it's the most you'll get without going custom. This guy sits in the hatch area of my Kia Soul and I still have room for cargo. I can unplug it in seconds and tuck the wires down in my spare tire compartment if I need more room. This sub is a great buy if you want solid bass to fill out your car audio sound.

In case anyone is wondering, I have had this in my car for about a year now and I love it. It isn't the loudest thing you have ever heard but it is very clean sounding. I was looking for something to replace my blown Mark Levinson sub in my Lexus and this fit the bill. It fits perfect in my trunk and I really like the sound and the adjustable knob it comes with. I got the 12".

I own the 10 inch sub, Its very great if you have no subs at all or just starting to add aftermarket audio to your car. No complaints about it, but, make sure you stick this down with velcro or something, it will move around in a bare trunk. Also, I have friends that have custom enclosures with 2 12"s in them, and wow it makes my sub feel like a smartphone speaker. This sub is great until you a better and more advanced setup*

Installed in my M3. Some long heavy duty strips of velcro on the bottom, but judicious use of bungee cord to ensure that sucker isn't going anywhere on acceleration. :)

Any ideas on how this would work if you have a Bose system with a powered sub already installed?
