I have this set and am very pleased. I like the sharpness of the clippers. The design makes them easier to use than some others that I've used in the past. They have a very nice weight to them. I also like the nose hair clipper. I've bought extras to give as gifts. (And I was always one to think "oh crap. I just got another manicure set!). But I am very pleased with this set and am glad I can share it with my friends.
I'm not sure how Rubis stand up in quality, because I have never used them, but there is really something to be said for real Swiss tweezers. I bought a few Swiss stainless steel (inox) lab tweezers from Dumont and I just cannot believe that anything so precise can possibly exist. When you have a pair of tweezers with needle-thin tips that not only perfectly meet side-to-side but also surface-to-surface and hold up through many uses, you have something for which it is worth paying more than $30.
I've had my eye on these Sekis for a while, so I hope they are the same way. Now I just have to wait for them to drop when I'm not broke.
HouseOne important thing to note, regardless of price, is that Amazon is selling the old discontinued version of this. Ours is the new version. The tools have been upgraded slightly, the biggest difference being that the nail clippers now feature a curved edge instead of a straight edge (making them more versatile and easier to use).
it-man This thread is a trip. @DrewDelis the only sane person here.
A) You're paying for an entire grooming kit, not just a pair of nail clippers.
B) You're clipping nails, not chopping down redwoods. You don't need clippers made of MaxElmaVG154CrS90VOMGWonderSteel to do that. The "what steel is this?" craze has reached "how many IBUs is my IPA?" neckbeard levels.
C) If you've ever used a pair of Seki Edge clippers, you'll know why they cost what they do. They outperform standard nail clippers to such a degree that it's revelatory. If the rest of the tools in the kit are of similar quality, then $65 is not excessive for something you'll use to take care of yourself for many, many years to come.
OligarchyThis set is manufactured in Japan. Most ebay fare is manufactured in PRC to lower specs and quality standards. You're paying for that difference here
This is not fair. What was the need to have that drop https://www.massdrop.com/buy/seki-edge-2-piece-grooming-kit when you had this drop in the pocket too? I paid almost same amount of money just for two clippers! No fair. My order is still in the manufacturing process. I want that to be replace by this.
MajidYou should try buying a flagship Sony TV. Drops about $500 per MONTH and then incremental improvements show up within 12 months from release and a full replacement within a year. So even if you buy on the first day available you're hosed!!!!
MajidTrust me man.
Give the two clippers as a gift.
You'll make someone very happy.
And secretly you'll have this set and a certain level of satisfaction on different fronts.
Thanks for pointing out the cheaper price on Amazon that just appeared today and I have good news for the community (and particularly Canucks)!
We have talked with the vendor about it and have been able to secure a lower price of $89.99. Get one now before it runs out!
So after nearly a year of weekly use in the shower exclusively and without ever being hand dried, I have photos of my nail clipper, and I have to say, I am impressed considering the horrid conditions of my water in Arizona. Buy this set!
