This is a piece of GARBAGE. It's hard to turn on. Sometimes I have to fiddle with it for a very long time to just to get it to turn on. It often suddenly drops recognition of a micro-sd card that it's already using. I then have to take the card out, re-insert, and reboot. Also when the unit is charging, it's almost impossible to get it to play. You have to charge it fully and then unplug the usb cable before it will play. GARBAGE. With the money I've spent on lousy Chinese units like this, I could have bought a nice Sony. The problem is that all or most Sonys now available won't play from a memory card, and for me that's a deal breaker. So I remain a pathetic sucker, shelling out for one garbage Chinese unit after another until I find one that works....
massdropper5its odd that I've complained about the same issue with powering up this player. I found no one on headfi and no one with shanling to confirm any such known issue. I wanted to like this player but the frustration of taking dozens of attempts to turn it on took the fun right out of it for me and I lost interest in it. I've tried different firmware without change.

I laughed out-loud!!! I'm not laughing at your misfortune and frustration, but it's just hilarious the way you worded it!
massdropper5Sounds like Sony picked up on the Apple strategy of big profit: storage. For years I've always said the best job in he word is the guy that runs the division in Apple responsible for storage on their mobile devices. Apple easily charges 3X+ over RETAIL for storage upgrades. I would guess Sony is doing the same.
