A super-portable DAC/amp from Tokyo, Japan, the TEAC HA-P5 combines high-performance components with an ergonomic, user-friendly design. The Burr-Brown PCM1795 DAC and OPA1602 opamps make for detailed, true-to-life sound, with support for PCM 24 bit/192 kHz and DSD 5.6 MHz formats. The PCB’s thick-membrane copper layer has a smooth, even surface for refined sound quality, while the soldering (done in a nitrogen-filled pool to eliminate oxidation) is as reliable as they come. In fact, everything about the HA-P5 shows an obsession with quality—all the way down to its volume control. The partially exposed knob is comfortable and easy to operate, while preventing accidental adjustment in your pocket or bag.
Note: This drop is limited to 30 units.
Thanks to its high voltage and low-impedance circuit design, the HA-P5 delivers 160 mW + 160 mW of output power at a 32-ohm load, or 30 mW + 30 mW at a 500-ohm load. Along with a headphone output with separate grounds for left and right channels, it features an array of inputs, including USB, coaxial, optical, and analog. LED indicators on the front panel show the sampling rate of the incoming digital audio and the battery level, which is displayed in five steps. The built-in lithium-ion rechargeable battery provides 5 hours of operation using a digital connection, and is compatible with standard USB AC adapters that supply 1.0A or more DC power.
