This is a pretty nice synthetic board. The surface texture doesn't feel very hard. It actually feels soft with a denser backing. I have multiple sharpened knives and when you use them on the board, the board doesn't grip and prevent them from moving. I've had this happen to me with plastic boards in the past. Instead, this board feels a lot like one of my older edge grain boards in terms of how it reacts to a knife sliding on it. It's easy to clean but like any board, will gradually accumulate small stains. The instructions say to bleach it for 20 minutes to get rid of stains, but I haven't had the need to do this yet. There's no need, in my opinion, to make the board look like it has never been touched. It is not too heavy nor is it light for the size. It doesn't leave much in the way of visible knife marks. I know that some plastic boards score easily when you slice a knife on it. I have not noticed any warping and I've only used it within its allowable temperature range of -30 to 70 Celsius. I recommend this product. It's not cheap relative to plastic, but relative to expensive end grain boards or even edge grain boards, it's a really good deal.
