Hey all, just wanted to share a little bit more info regarding the inspiration of this keycap from the Eye Key artist Nguyen:
"Legend says Ha Long Bay was formed by a mother a Dragon and her children, sent by the Jade Emperor from Heaven to protect the Vietnamese from foreign invaders. Ha Long Bay sea forever remain a bright green color, flows quietly, absorbed with time. In 2000, UNESCO recognized it as a World Heritage for the second time for its geographical and geomorphologic values. This confirms the global premier value of Ha Long Bay. The keycap was made as a mini scene style to reiterate the beauty of Ha Long Bay, and to honor such national treasure in Vietnam."
The two islands you are seeing are also known as the Ga Choi island - "Fighting Roosters", named by the locals.
The artist will be launching/recreating the 7 Vietnam wonders through artisan keycaps: along with Ha Long Bay, next up - Hoan Kiem Lake.
The $74 original price is a joke. These caps look alright, but Jelly Key's most interesting 1u caps don't really go higher than $45 and those are the best in the field.
Mine just came in, overall pretty happy about them although I feel like the rocks are kind of small and it looks like its sitting on a flat blue layer more than being in water. Still good, though. Just could be a little better.
TekilaShotMe too re SA; but having been there with my elderly father in 2011, it was beautiful... so, I guess my escape key will sit -w-a-y- up above DSA / XDA / whatever; but for this scene maybe that's appropriate...
StuR.rrhaving been burned by the mini iceland and the mt fuji drops - these kind of landscape-y ones need to be tall. got both in OEM, and i think that if they'd only been offered in SA, there would have been fewer complaints (about the fuji ones - the mini iceland ones were pretty horrible all around until they were replaced). the shorter keys flatten it out.
