I start this off with the fact that Massdrop’s comment search automatically “corrects” any text entered, so I tried searching for CTH and it pulled up other, “corrected” search terms.
However, I’m curious...how does the DX7S stack with the CTH?
I believe the CTH is Single-Ended design with the added XLR headphone out only for convenience. So you're gonna miss the advantage of using a true balance out of the DX7s if you're planning to pair the two. As for the sound, I don't have a CTH. I'm using my DX7s as my main DAC connected to my tube amp (SE), and external balanced-amp. Suffice to say, the DX7s is a fairly neutral sounding DAC without the analytical and sterile sound signature that's usually associated with ESS chip. Detail retrieval is extremely good and comparable to my chord mojo, but surprisingly DX7s has a "Fantastic" soundstage both in balanced/unbalanced out.
Thanks for the reply, @d3rrlck! I especially appreciate the Chord Mojo comparison, that's my favorite DAC/amp I own, I just wish I could use it as a desktop component without worry.
But I was a bit more concerned with how the two stack physically, lol!
I will say, it's not a huge problem not using the balanced output with the CTH, as I have plans for the balanced outputs: either into a balanced headphone amp (something cleaner for IEMs) or into my JBL LSR 305s if I ever get them back on my desk.
Lol! Yeah it's entirely different form factor I get your drift :)
Here's my bedside rig with the diffuser on top. It makes me fall asleep fast before I can finish an entire album :)
Nice! Also, I have to say, I never realized just how big and beefy the Matrix M-Stage amp is. Their stuff always looks like portable-sized in photos!
Nice, I wish I can have the same by my bed but my 2 years old son would jump on them band play them like his toys in a second...
I bought one of this and there is not manual inside. What are the differences between the 7 settings you can choose from the menu? Thanks.
If you're referring to the FIR filter setting, I'm currently using the brickwall. I have not played with the rest of the filter setting yet, and not sure what's the difference between them either. Reviewers say they have minimum impact, and barely noticeable unless you're doing a critical listening.
Yes I was referring to the filters. I cannot find any explanation anywhere on what they are for and what they do. I downloaded also the manual and these filters are barely mentioned. Changing them does not give any noticeable change in music so I was wondering... Thank you for your reply. I will email Topping.
I will have both once my DX7S finishes shipping here (I'm in Hawaii, so another week). I'll try to put a comparison out based on subjective listening.
