The D18 begins with an ESS 9018 DAC, the mighty chip found in highly regarded devices like the Wyred 4 Sound, Eastern Electric MiniMax, and Weiss DAC202. Capable of up to 32bit, 192 kHz conversion, the D18 utilizes dual AD8620 op-amps for IV conversion, dual AD797 op-amps for low-pass filtering, and a low phase noise crystal oscillator to ensure that not a single note gets lost in transmission. The resulting sound profile is lively and warm without getting artificial, showcasing deep lows, present mids, and lightly rounded off highs that never grow sibilant.
Aluminum Sheath
Encased in a thick aluminum shell for sleek looks and complete durability, the D18 does not feature a USB input, but it does come stocked with optical, coaxial, and AES/EBU inputs. As the coaxial and optical inputs have slightly different sounds, alternate between the set-ups to find the right profile for your system.
