*not too*
Disregarded, tired of U and V shaped signatures in IEMs, what is wrong with the engineers of this age, for Pete's sake.
They might have a crossover, or two, and I’m hoping they have a gentle attenuation and overlap (say 6db or 3db). However, the bass is so bloated that it bleeds into the mids, not giving it just necessarily punch, but mud. The BA is there, though the mids are scooped out so much that the vocals and instruments take several steps back (sans maybe a cymbal or high-synth) and it sounds compressed. The beryllium driver and tuning elevates the bass so much that the BA doesn’t get a chance to do what it does best, express the mids and treble in unison with the DD. One way I attempted to rectify this was by using wider opening Spinfits and silicon tips from with wider openings to attenuate the bass and elevate the mids and treble more, which it succeeded to a degree. But the obvious separation in sound was unavoidable, the bass is sort of one-note, boomy, and the BA was just high treble sparkle. I’ve tested tracks via lossless and MQA from Tidal on my Onkyo Granbeat using the balanced output and a 2.5mm 4 pole. DSP off, sharp roll off, no EQ. Second, I listened OTG via an XD-05; and SMSL SU8 ver 1.3 with THX789, and TEAC UD501. Tracks like, Everybody Wants to Be Famous, remixed by Cedric Gervais, has a punchy driving baseline. It should be a nice “thuump”, however it’s so loose that the bass is expressed as a “thwooomp” - the driver is too slow. Etta James’s At Last sounds like she’s behind a thick curtain and you can’t even hear her breath between lyrics, which I know is there because I’ve listened to iSine10s/20s, IE40, Trident, N40, n5005, FH5, OH1, Elex, Sundara, even the LCD2C. That list isn’t conclusive. It’s like asking a timpani to do all the bass work and having a triangle fill in the treble while the conductor masturbates with the rest of the orchestra and singer behind a thick curtain. But yes, our testing methods and sources might different, as our ears. The drivers just don’t sound like they work together well enough with the tuning to hide that they are two separate drivers.
Artismowow, you hear all that? Maybe my ears are numb. Or maybe my bar has been so low that these are a step up by comparison. Either way, that was a colorful read. I'm gonna try to unimagine some of it now.
Just pulled the trigger on the ar-e10. I've had Shure se535, Tin T2 (still have them), Edc3 and Edc (still have the edc). Looking to see if the AR's can replace both the T2 AND edc. They each have their own uses, but I'd rather have just one set. We'll see- I'll post my impressions once they arrive and my ears have adjusted.
Typo- It was supposed to be se530, the older model from years ago. Its been so long, I don't think I could make a serious comparison. Though I'd wager the pair you've got would be hard to beat with the ar's. It'd be a side grade for you.
Really, can't be shipped to Canada? Honestly why the hell do we agree to trade with USA. First drop in months that actually interest me and its the ONLY one that wont let me get it. Fk this site
djfirestormI can sell and ship you a brand new unopened pair. Can't do free shipping but I can cut you a deal so it would be close to what drop sold them for. Let me know.
Read the reviews, checked Amazon, immediately ordered from Drop. I hope the E10s arrive before my trip to NYC July 23.
Question: It appears that the I = (n +1) formula commonly applied to bicycles, cameras and lenses may be applicable to IEMs. Am I correct?
I've had them since March, and while they're good, I wouldn't have spent $250 on them. Acoustic Research is suffering from price bloat, since they're trying to break back into proper audio sales. They'll figure it out. I think (mass)Drop is pricing them realistically.
Thoroughly impressed.... Once I realized there aren't meant to be used as 98% of all other in ear monitor earphones are, (pushed inside the ear canal). Because of the severe nozzle angle, that proved next to impossible regardless of eartips. But boy did I try again and again, with any and every possible method, the best I could do was a painful, albeit SEALED! uhh seal. So once I discovered the proper wearing technique of pushing on but not actually inserting into the ear canal entrance, I discovered revalatory beryilium bass response (impressive) along with highly passable detail, transparency, smoothness of the mids and highs. I believe the armature is tuned very well. There is a super small difference in the sound delivery thanks to the different wear method, but I was about to return these and now they share time with my Sennheiser Jubilee. 👍

They have retreated to "core competency", so this is stock liquidation. Good IEMs, but no support from AR. Strong bass.
HeadCaseyMDI believe you can contact Voxx International for support such replacement cables or warranty. I have read of some users getting replacement cables/support this way.
