Great little drive. I picked one up on Amazon on Feb 22. However, the 1 TB price on Amazon was $169.99 only 10 days ago. The price with immediate Prime shipping is $64.99 over there for the 256GB model. I really don't see the point of these Mass Drops. Why would anyone buy here and wait a month to get this when they can have it for the same price or less here? What is Massdrop thinking?
I love massdrop but once again there are errors in the price on the description page. One spot states its +$20 for the 512g and at the checkout its +$22 it's not a huge amount but it's about principle and checking your specs massdrop. This keeps happening over and over across your drops. For me I'm getting tired of not getting what was described or going to checkout and the price is not what was posted. I personally have been multiple drops that massdrop has either refunded money or I had to return the item. It's not hard to review your work.
Could one of these work as an external hard drive for an Xbox One? I've been wondering if it's a proprietary thing or not and I'd love to have an SSD without the "Xbox" markup on the price.
mattholmes134I can't find any endurance specs for this drive, which may be an issue if you'll have several games installed. I myself will be getting a reputable SSD plus an enclosure for my XB1S
El-KamoteEndurance shouldn't be an issue with 3D TLC NAND which this drive has. The biggest weakness is that it is internally a SATA drive (USB to SATA bridge) and afaik there is no TRIM support over USB of this kind, whereas some newer enclosures feature a newer JMicron bridging chip that support TRIM on NVMe SSDs over USB. That said, the 512GB version of this is a pretty good price.
Last month you could get a Samsung T5 for less money with better ratings/reviews shipped in 2 days from Amazon, today $14 more. For $15 more you can buy insurance on data.
