i don't think they come with replacement pads but you can check with Manufacturer adl-av.com , i'm sure they can supply if yours gets damaged or broken.
HuestonI've had these for almost a year and it still hasn't ripped. i use it about 3 times per week (sometimes more). if they do break you can ask them, they are very good at responding. thanks!
The Alpha Design Labs have been compared to an Audiophile favourite: the HD25-1's - the bass punchy and treble shiny headphones- and has been said to be less "aggressive" in the bass, and a tiny less sparkly on the treble. However it is still considered to be a bass heavy headphone in the Audiophile world, but it is still smooth in the midrange and has good clarity on the highs.
Bear in mind that in headphones and audio in general, high quality equipment does not necessarily mean audio tuned to your liking: everything has their own sound signature and are sometimes boosted in certain frequencies (low, mids, highs, etc.) to put more emphasis on sounds. It is also important to know that if you're not using high quality music files (320 kbps upwards) together with a decent DAC/AMP combination, you will not be able to push the headphones to their fullest potential. The more expensive headphones are designed with this in mind and are better at retrieving more detail from the equipment you have.
As such, if you are buying these headphones to plug directly onto your onboard sound card, or straight into your basic mp3 player/phone, then you are potentially going to be set for disappointment.
TibblewinklesTibblewinkles, have you tried these before ? i have these headphones and i'm very happy with it. I don't expect HD800 quality/built as I can't afford it nor are they too bassy like Beats : P I tend to listen to acoustics and jazz music and it's just right for me. I know the manufacturer is Furutech which has a great reputation for making high-end connectors and cables for the audio industry. I paid $269 for these at Music Direct and it's a fair price. This is a great price if it hits $149!
rayman123I haven't tried these before I'm afraid. I have the HD650's, HD25's, and DT250's, so I could only draw guesses from people drawing comparisons with their experience.
But from the reviews on it's sound signature and looking the frequency response chart, I can imagine that these are great for my needs, especially with an ODAC/O2 combination.
But unless I can either sell off my DT250 or HD25, I will have to skip on this opportunity.
ADL is the lifestyle product spinoff of Furutech which makes hi-end audiophile components. Nordost, Siltech and others uses their products. ADL makes the finish products, portable headphone DACs, cables, headphone upgrade cables, and now headphones. Lots of good reviews even from Cnet's Steve Guttenburg.
guybeeOh, they sell aftermarket cables...that's why I wasn't too keen on this company. (this isn't meant to be condescending, just that I now know why I wasn't aware of Furutech and Alpha Design Labs). It's cause I never look at cables.
