I purchased this drop because I needed a solution to protect my ears while riding my motorcyle. Pairing these with RHA T20i's both protects my ears from harsh road noises, but also allows me to listen to music, direction instructions from google maps, and receive calls while on the go. They have served me well for years now.
The product itself is impeccable. Snug fit for the ears, decent price, great communication for all matters except for delivery, where I'm unsure if it's due to Drop or Advanced Sound.
I reached out to Advanced-Sound for my first pair of IEM ear tips on Jun 6, 2019. The custom ear tips had an extreme poor fit between the IEMs and the ear tips, which caused a significant amount of sound leakages. In a message I received from Advanced-Sound on Jun 24, the company disclosed, and I quote "Since Campfire is third party brand, Solaris IEMs were 3D scanned in our labs and we base our custom-tips design around the scan of the IEM that we have." On Jul 8, I received the re-designed second pair of custom IEM ear tips, which were, in my opinion, of little improvement, and continue to have a significant amount of sound leakage.
In summary, after exchanging more than 15 emails with staff at Advanced-Sound, and receiving 2 pair of custom IEM ear tips, it allowed me to come to the following conclusions. Some if not all of the custom ear tips based on third-party IEMs produced by Advanced-Sound are not fully tested internally by acoustic engineers with an actual pair of IEMs (e.g. Campfire Solaris), but were made merely with a 3D scan of the third-party IEMs. This in my opinion is a relatively irresponsible policy.
owenhuuI had a very similar experience with my IMR R1s, and I actually sent my IEMs to them so they could scan them. I assumed they would test the acoustics and fit too, but I was wrong. After over 3 months of emails (the longest wait time for a response was over 3 weeks), they still didn't want to fix the issues I had with their design. They kept pushing store credit on me, despite the fact that I didn't receive anything close to the product I paid for. I have no interest in any other product they make (if it's the same quality as the ear-tips, it's just more material for the land-fill).
And to make things worse, the ear-tips wouldn't even stay on the IEM. It's a poor design, in many ways (I could really dig in, but I don't want to make this too long). It could be a decent product, but they decided to try and ignore me and hope I would go away rather than help solve the issue. After 3 months I ended up accepting store credit back for a pair of useless ear-tips. A complete waste of time and money.
The fit of my custom tips is perfect and they hold my tin t2s securely. The price is less than half of what I've paid for custom tips from snugs. I also got the 3D scan file of the molds I sent in.
