Well suited for studio and portable use, the Audio-Technica M40X headphones come with a pair of detachable cables and fold up neatly in the included carrying pouch. This little brother of the M50X offers an excellent value, with a flat, accurate tuning across the extended frequency range Read More
Ive owned one of these previously, and while durable for the most part, they aren't suited to day to day outdoor usage. The support that attaches the earcup the the headband broke, leaving the earcup dangling by a string. I used these all the time while walking around, and the repeated impacts had taken a toll on the plastic. For indoor studio usage, these are 100% fine
Pretty sure the cables for the m40x are also used on some Sennheiser products, it's just a locking 2.5mm connection. Also, I own a pair--the pads are definitely replaceable, just not super easily.
Can someone who owns this tell me if it is as big as the ATH-M50(x) ? The ATH-M50 (that I own and love) are too big for my friend (the headband is too long) and she hopes that this one has a smaller fit to stay on her head. I want to buy this, as it is a real bargain, but I if it is too big as well, I can't return it. Thanks in advance for the answer.
Flex77I was just trying on the entire series at a local Guitar Center. They may be slightly smaller but not significantly so....But I enjoyed them better than the 50, the sound felt more balanced and smooth. I was also fairly impressed with the 30s. Aside from lack of detachable cable; I'm not sure I'd be able to tell the difference between 30 & 40. But the 30s are about the same size also...
This is my first purchase with MD. I chose MD for two reasons. First, I was wanting to buy this item, and found it cheaper here than on Amazon. Since I don't need this item right away, I'm OK waiting until next month. The second reason involves my dissatisfaction with Amazon Prime shipping. Recently, Amazon shipped items using their in-house shipping method "AMZL US". What should have taken 2 days, is now going on 2 weeks. AMZL US essentially avoids using tried and true carriers such as DHL, Fedex, UPS, USPS, and instead pays random nobodies to deliver packages. These random nobodies are not professional carriers, and don't care about getting your package to your doorstep. There are many reports and complaints that these nobodies steal some of the items they are suppose to be delivering. It's now a mystery if you will get your item through Amazon prime. MassDrop, on the other hand, uses tried and true carriers, and I appreciate that. :)
These aren't audiophile cans, but are what I consider fun headphones. These bass is exaggerated, they're a bit of a "Johnny One Note" in this area . The soundstage is virtually non existent, still I find them quite listenable. They reproduce quality source material nicely, but can be unforgiving to poorly mastered sources. If there's graininess or shoutiness present, you will hear it. I paid $79.00 for mine new "A" stock @ Crutchfield. I recently found them for the same price @ Parts Express. These are the least costly cans I own and I use them daily. My only real complaint are the small cups. Similar to my NAD HP50's the fit is more "on ear" than other over ear cans. Even for the full $99.00 I consider them a bargain.
