They're... expensive. And they look it. But the sound...
First of all, these headphones desperately need EQ to enjoy - unless you really want genuinely piercing treble.

(EQ settings are wholly Jimbob_54's doing: [ https://drop.com/profile/Jimbob_54 ], he provided this image pictured above in the discussions page of this listing.) Now, as that's out of the way... -- The 'Raffinato,' Audio Technica's W5000 headphones. I'd say they perform really well. But... the EQ wasn't the only fix necessary. At least, for me. The earpads for these kinda fell flat. Maybe they... uh... deflated, in transport? Either way. When I got them, the pads looked incredibly thin. Tried them out - they were atrocious. Both for comfort and for listenability. Even with EQ! No seal whatsoever around the ears. Aside from the two glaring issues these expensive headphones face; Wow they're really pretty. Gorgeous. Ebony was a fantastic choice. The little pads that rest atop the head work well, comfort is fantastic (once pads are swapped.) I have always had difficulty with comfort in headphones, trying to get them to fit to my head shape. These? Surprisingly, they conformed incredibly well. And I don't reckon anyone else will struggle, either. But that's all subjective anyways! The heavy cable + the 6.5mm connector at the end are high quality, to be expected. And damn! That big connector at the end is heavy. Could do some serious damage if swung too hard. Gotta be careful. To mention, the texture of the cord is interesting. Not very grippy, but not shiny-smooth either. It's... nice. Kind of 'granular.' Textured. But still smooth. The best cable I've seen attached to headphones to date, honestly. All that aside, they sound great. Not really anything mindblowing, honestly. Maybe someone else would get better mileage out of them... none of my DACs really did anything to make them 'shine' or anything else other people typically say about high-end headphones. They just sound... good. Uh - with EQ, that is. So!

Here's some photos.

Final word of advice:
Please don't buy these, unless you just want a fancy art-piece. In that case, I'd definitely recommend it, just for your amp-stack. ...Or whatever - I'm not your financial advisor!

Gorgeous and elegant outlook
In spite of the gorgeous and elegant outlook and luxurious packing, this pair of headphones sound dry and shallow on first hearing. It needs

at least, I believe, 200-400 hours to burn-in. Due to the light weight, wearing them is comfortable, even after several hours of listening.
