Personally, I don't care about RFID blocking, as there is an opinion that it is pointless (https://www.digitaltrends.com/cool-tech/are-rfid-blocking-products-worth-your-money-we-asked-an-expert/), and I'm inclined to agree. But of course if people find this important and it was advertised, the product should have this feature.
I got the charcoal version; it's also tan on the inside. And yes, below here, in the comments, Drop's buying manager posted pics of the inside that showed the charcoal version being blue on the inside. I don't care about that enough to go through the hassle of returning the product (I'm based well outside the US), but I'm fast coming to the conclusion that on Drop, even if you have clarified something with the buying manager and the buying manager has posted pics, you might get something materially different.
Unfortunately, it is now an irreversible fact that this website has become the place to offload old stock using fraudulent business practices (advertising something as X and shipping Y is fraud).
I did get a discount on this wallet compared to Bellroy's website, and for me, in a wallet, the above deviations from what was advertised are not too substantial. They _could_ be substantial for other products, depending on the product. I don't know that Drop will get any more business from me.
Gosh, it takes special skill to get a customer base that, in my case, has an addiction for opening new tabs in the browser and typing "f" and then having the willpower to NOT choose facebook but instead choose "_f_ormerly Massdrop"—so, to get this customer base and then to have only _one_ job to do—advertise s**t and deliver s**t as advertised. And then to bring this customer base to the conclusion that one can't trust this company...
[edited to add:] P. S. I cooled down a bit and I think this might be partially Bellroy's fault. Bellroy probably wanted to offload the remaining old-version wallets, contacted Drop about this (I don't know who initiates these kind of sales), and they might have just sent Drop the link to the product as it currently is without bothering to tell anyone that they were offloading the old version, and when Drop's buying manager wrote to ask for pics of the inside (after someone requested them here in the comments), Bellroy might have also just sent whatever pics were at hand. In my work, I have no shortage of examples of people on the other end of the line being unreliable with the information they provide, etc. Anyway, in my work, I learned to press for details. Probably, Drop managers need to acquire this skill, too. And I suppose that in the future, I'll be more cautious of both of products on Drop and of Bellroy as a company.
keybersDefinitely agree with everything you've said, and as a long time customer who's been burnt more than once recently (Elex Pads fiasco, my 2nd pad still MIA, was asked by support to give it till next week), I'll reconsider my future purchases here and check more carefully.
Came instantly defective with the inner card slot on the inside already tearing away. Drop hasn't replied my emails since I've reported the issue and the returns window is closing. At the rate this is going I'm going to have to just dump it a bad review.
I've received mine in the charcoal and has a different internal colour to that on the Bellroy site. As suggested below, I'm questioning if this is an older version.
There is also no mention of RFID blocking on the packaging which only serves to further the concern...
mamipokoSo I followed it up and did eventually get a response. They didn't necessarily confirm it was the incorrect version sent however also didn't argue that either. I think it's clear from the incorrect colour, consistent with the older model, in addition to the labelling.
I requested a refund because I won't use it without the rfid blocking.
I would encourage you to also follow them up so you can get it sorted.
The images are somewhat different from Bellroy's website. The Java shows a orange / tan inside.
Are the models sold here in fact different or outdated images?
These pictures are terrible. The close-ups do not actually show you the features.
Seeing the opening for a change purse , for example, does not show me how the change purse is Incorporated into the wallet.
I’ve been using this wallet for years and I would 100% buy it again and would gladly pay the full retail price. The only reason I might not join the drop is that I’d be happier giving Bellroy the sale.
