Sound is good, but durability is suspect. Bought it for the removable cable, as that's often been a failure point for my headphones, but had an issue with the connector on mine.
No wonder why IEMs wins, these earbuds just lacks the isolation, bass and details. Not too bad consider its price, not too uncomfortable and fit well if you hate IEMs. The aluminum piece comes off when I clean it with rubbing alcohol, maybe the glue got dissolved.
Bad sound and worse build quality. I used them for only a week until the grill cam off the Earpad and I returned it to Massdrop. The quality of playback wasn't terrible for the price, but they're not what I would call true neutral playback like how others would describe them. The quality of playback seemed to chang based on the kind of song being played, which tells me that the EQ on these need some work. The rubber ear lobe mounts were constantly falling off too which ruins this product on its own. Without those rubber earmounts, you won't be able to walk 5 steps without one of the earbuds fall out. This is also one of the main reasons why people mainly use IEM's as opposed to ear pads nowadays. This is a bad purchase all around and I don't know why earbuds like this even still exist when you can get a pair of good IEM's at the same price.
I just cannot recommend these earbuds when the VE Monk exist at a much lower price. They do not sound as good or fit as well as the VE Monks. I really appreciate the detachable cable, and it should be a standard feature on any decent pair of earbuds. However, this does not make up for the lack of sound quality and poor fit.
A close to netural neutral, open sounding buds, so it is not suitable for basshead people. The mid is is a bit forward, so it is very good for vocal lover. However, the resolution is lacking detail and the sound produced is a bit muddy compared to my main gear, but lookin at the price, you can complain for more.
The build quality is very nice. The cable is good looking and the earbud is look very sturdy. It came with a wide range of accessoriess too, and well packaged in a nice looking box.
Very open sound. Not for bassheads or high-treble users. Need to burn in very long ! (about 200hours regarding the manufacturer) I weared them during my holidays because of the open design I still could hear my family while walking. Very neutral but addictive sound. Build quality is very good.
I would not recommend these at all. The cable is the nicest thing about them, but even the cable isn't worth $35. Honestly, the $5 VE Monks sound considerably better than these buds. The mids are pretty bad, and the whole sound is muddy. Vocals take a back seat, and the open back buds try to make the bass extend, but fall short and make a boomy set of buds that barely stay in your ear. Can not recommend these at all, especially when a pair of $5 buds sound heaps better in every single department.
