Originally purchased a standard Delica, but won the Delica with the Emerson Wave opener and was thrilled. I've owned many knives in the past with the Emerson Wave opener (ZT 0620CF, ZT 0620, many Kershaw/Emerson models) and I enjoyed them all. Out of all those knives, I still have the Delica.
This was my first spyderco and will probably be my last. I wasn’t very impressed with the knife. It felt cheap and low quality. was very small for the price and couldn't shave the hair on my arm or cut paper out of the box. I gave it away as a white elephant gift this past Christmas to a co worker. I don’t see myself purchasing another spyderco in the future. I really don’t see what the hype with them is all about.
I was a little underwhelmed at how small this knife was, but it has come in handy. Right out of the box it was able to shave me and slice through any boxes I had to deal with at work. It is small and easy to lose in my pocket
I am not the biggest expert on knives but this noob liked this knife. Was sharp out of the box, back lock feels secure and e grip and weight are near perfect.
Ended up not getting the prized Damascus and ended up with the exact color combination I absolutely would not keep in my collection. Would not recommend and suggest purchasing individually.
Overall this is a great little Japanese made, manual Spyderco folder. Feels good in the hand and uses high quality steel with a solid construction. Only thing I would change or upgrade if you are into that type of thing is getting better, higher quality scales to replace the cheap-feeling glass-injected nylon that comes with. Received the base model in the "grab bag," but as others have said it was hard to pass up this knife at the price point.
The random aspect of this added some great fun. I did get the most base model, but I still spent less than other places I had seen. The base delicia with purple scales is an extremely solid and well built knife.
