got pair of CCA CS16 this week, it wasn’t terrible at all. -bass and mid centric with mild trebles -VS ASX and felt CS16 does better in terms of technicalities and better tonalities. It reminded me of my old pair of westone 4 -VS CCA CA16 its 7BA+1DD siblings, they both share similar tonality, but CS16 is tuned in a bit favorable one imo. -VS ZAX, ZS10Pro, totally a different sound signature ZAX ZS10Pro are U shaped or V shaped, cooler tones(Knowles BA or old UE iem ), and CCA I believe they are after Sonion BA sounds softer and warmer. Anyway, CS16 is a good pair of iem, that provides warm and delighted notes. Unfortunately I decided to return due to the nature I enjoy moondrop blessing 2 much more. Hope my input help other audio enthusiasts as one of the voice on the internet.

I got a pair thinking it was an "upgraded" version of the C16 that I really like. It's not. More hyped, a lot more fatiguing. The fit is bad, they're too bulky for me - the body by the nozzle is extends much further than any other KZ or CCA that I've had, and this makes it so the upper protrusion doesn't nestle into the antihelix as it's supposed to (KZ ZSX has this protrusion too, but it fits me because the nozzle doesn't extend out so far). I dunno whose ears these were made for, but certainly not mine. Overall these are a disappointment. All I wanted was a C16 with a metal nozzle and B-pin connectors LOL

I just recently purchased the KZ ZAX (7BA, 1DD) IEM’s as an upgrade (?) to my KZ ZS10 Pros and although they both share the same basic sound signatures, the ZAX is a bit more refined with slightly less thump in the bass and a touch more prominence in the midrange but the treble sounds about the same, which can be a blessing or a curse depending on your perspective. If anything, there does seem to be a bit more “air” around the sub-bass region which may be a product of the vented design of the faceplates. But now I’m super curious about these CS16’s. I’ve always wanted to try a complete BA IEM and maybe, just maybe these might be the ones to try. I admit I do enjoy the sound signatures of the KZ/CCA series. However, I really don’t know if more drivers are necessarily better. From time to time, I like to pop in my Fiio FA-1 IEM’s which only has a single Knowles BA in each ear piece. Granted, this doesn’t have nearly the bass presence or the shimmering treble of most multiple hybrid set-ups but man, this IEM just has a smoothness and coherency that is hard to find nowadays. However, I also want a little more of everything in it, including a better soundstage and more depth. Just a little! (The Fiio FA-7’s might be a better solution?) So why do I want to get the CCA CS16? Because I just want to know how they sound. I know, it makes no sense. Don’t hate me though. Just hate the game! 😋

There is something wrong here. 110 USD for a total of 16 drivers plus crossover parts, machined metal, plastic housing, handwoven cables, labour and development costs? If you buy large quantities of drivers (like hundreds) you probably just get down to 200 - 230 USD for the drivers alone (check the prices on Mouser or digikey for the knowles drivers part numbers in the text and calculate back: 4 CIs, 4 EDs, 2 SWFKs and two TWFKs = 16 drivers). The total costs of goods for something like this should be more at the 250 - 280 USDs depending on quality of parts and labour, development with a final retail price including markup substantially beyond the 300s. The numbers just dont add up unless ...
  • the drivers are in quantity as indicated or are not original Knowles but substantially cheaper knock-offs.
  • this project is heavily subsidized
  • you have a deep pockets do it just for fun...

I own and enjoy my CCA-C12 (paid under $35 with cable upgrade)......a great value. However, I'm wondering, at what point in adding more and more drivers does the law of diminishing returns kick in? Maybe quality over quantity should now be prioritized.
well many multi driver IEM's cost less than single driver IEM's so imo not really if they can't tune it they way they want they fix it by adding more and that rout (the lazy one) is usually cheaper than sinking more R&D into fixing a single drivers tuning

quicklytoo4My point is the law of diminishing returns occurs whenever anything is added be it price, RnD, drivers, fancy materials or whatever. The law of diminishing returns is always in effect, its just how far up that curve you are willing to go, but otherwise I agree with you.

I've very happy with the sound of my CCA CA16. The only problem I have with it is I don't find the shape of the shell at all comfortable. This one looks to be a similar size, though more attractive with that faceplate. Until they slim down the size and shape of that shell, then the CA16 will be my only CCA.

No sure the idea behind this, KZ ASX came out recently, with 20. Usually CCA has more BAs than KZ, and that's the difference, but the ASX is all BAs. The CCA C16 was very interesting, but for the price, the CCA C10 was the better buy. The C10 was one of my favorite budget IEMs, it could easily be found under $40 and even under $30. Since the CCA C16 came out at least a few years ago, this may be an improvement. Just my two cents, I have not yet tried the CS16, but I'm guessing it's an upgrade they've made from feedback or using better technology for the dollar than what was possible in say, 2017.
