I have a Chord Mojo and this little guy. The Mojo is very good. This comes surprisingly close in a much, much tinier package. It drives my Focal Elears very well. See image for a size comparison. Not a bad drop, but it may not get much love at this price point.
utdeepThanks for useful info :) btw Chord Mojo imho has worst visual design I have ever seen anywhere. Looks like children's tape recorder due its shape and those colorful dots...
khaja-724612Although it's bigger than the Mojo, the iFi micro iDSD Black Label ($549) has more-transparent sound, more features, inputs/outputs, and power. Or you could get the much more portable (and affordable) iFi nano iDSD LE for $129.
IMHO to pay this price for a china wannabe audiophile company product is ridiculous. I made a mistake as I bought their COZOY ASTRAPI. It was worse than the build-in dac in my iPhone. never again.
$499 you could buy JDS the element dac/amp which has a fixed line-out ,rca in and very powerful headphone amp with dac with highest sample rate at 96khz/24bit , and you still have money left to buy another cheap headphone.(the like of Status cb-1 ,cheap but great headphone)
Guys, com'on,This is like saleman waving a sign, "I know this is ridiculous price .. but you guys are stupid and gonna buy it anyway " in your face
Those are all budget options. Boutique means cost no object, which this product is. I bought a $500 portable amp just for it's +15db bass boost. A niche market among a niche market. Aesthetics and presentation are equal to or even trumps performance for people with money.
TheTaggerungBudget options at $200-$300 pricepoint shouldn't trump $500 product in value and function aspect but, the ''subjective'' and ''personal'' aesthetic aspect.
Comparing to point you are trying to refer, you wouldn't say that $1000 headphone amp ,with much lesser function and power-driving capability than $300 amp, should be considered well-worth money because solely it looks nice to you
But it's your money, so spend as you want. I rather save up and buy something that is worth the price
S.jieBang on. Chord Mojo is the best headphone amp under $1,000, period, and you can get it through Moon Audio right now for $529 USD. For an extra $30 over this, the Mojo is a no brainer!
Man this thing looks freaking awesome but 499.99 for a simple printed PCB encased in a metal that has a cool design...
You're really reaching here for fools.
