Ok, gradeschool physics time kids! What happens when you add a rigid extension to your 3.5mm plug making it longer than your typical type-c plug? Yes thats right, you've made a lever! Levers are great tools for applying high forces at a fulcrum point, say a USB port for example! Do you like excess leverage applied to your usb port? Well this is the dac for you! Seriously, there's a reason all the dongle dacs are two bits joined by wire. This is a horrible design.

How is this is compared with JCally JM20?

paruchuribrosThese are just plug adaptors. The JCally JM 20 has a dac chip.
DarrylGThe ALC5686 is a DAC. For one of these adaptors to work, they have to have a DAC.

Bad idea with your phone, I think. All you create is a lever, that excerts force, with its increased leverage, on your phones usb port, increasing likelyhood that you damage your phone whilst in a pocket/bag etc. I have damaged a DAP when using adpters to 6.3 mm format, dap only had 3.5 mm. I will not be doing that again. What I would want is the smallest footprint angled usb contact, to minmize leverage, then short cord, again to minimize leverage. But maybe that is just me.

39 dollars instead of 40, dang. So, how is Drop still alive since I haven't seen anything worth buying here in a long long while? Sounds like AliExpress (not even Amazon) with extra steps. Had to buy a keyset here a couple months ago because they probably begged the original manufacturer to make it a Drop exclusive, but long gone are the days when Massdrop was a real marketplace for enthusiasts made by enthusiasts. I'm sure they had to kill the other categories because people got sick of them and nobody bought anything, while mech and audio enthusiasts are easier to manipulate, especially the former since they're used to fomo and not receiving the expensive stuff they buy

Maybe I'm missing something but you can get these for $39.99 from Audio46 with certainly faster and free shipping. Hell if your willing to step up to $45 Amazon has it with 2 day shipping. If your in the US, I can't see how this is a good deal.

Can anyone comment on the durability of these? I only use them for the 3.5 aux jack in my car, but even still, I've broken two ~$15-25 converters. I don't even drop or abuse them, they just seem to burn out. All this fucking headache because Samsung thought giving me 2% extra battery was worth more than being able to use all of my goddamn headphones (after not two months earlier, making commercials mocking apple for doing just that). I'm just glad some lunatic already made a bluetooth transmitter/receiver for my Audio Technica M40x's.

HoneybadgersThey're relatively new on the market so the long term durability is a question of time. However I'm using mine for couple of months now and ir feels like it'll be there for a long time. The craftmanship is pretty good and it feels solid. The only downside is however I'm not on the go most of the time due to pandemic and at home it's barely in a condition to test its durability to be honest.

derzulyaFor the car thing I just ended up going the FIIO BTR3 route and going Bluetooth for convenience. Thing has been solid for years and it sits and cooks in the car.

As long as its housing is indeed hallowed-out to pack them all, I am all in. Fingers crossed their promise isn't hyperbole!
