Best Upgrade for the 99 Classics, Especially at this Price
I'm no stranger to pad swaps - I've experimented with nearly all of my headphones (nearly 40 on/over-ear pairs) well before they "needed" to be changed out due to discomfort or wear, solely for the fact that 95% of the pad upgrades I've made have been significantly beneficial, at least in either comfort, sound, or (in the best cases) both. The 99 Classics (I happen to have the walnut/silver trim versions) are nearly a perfect product for what they're aiming for - they include a lovely 'leather' carrying case with accessory storage within, a *damn* good cable that's long, supple, and durable, and the fit & finish you've come to expect from this relatively young but deservedly-popular brand. This is all despite how many people seem to overlook what I consider to be the 99C's weakest link by far: the stock pads. They aren't quite "offensive" in the comfort department; I wear glasses and don't notice any pressure point for several hours of listening, they seal well enough, and are covered in a soft enough material to relieve any immediate discomfort. When it comes to the sound, though, is where all the difference lies. I expected these to be one of the more bass-heavy headphones I own, but (hopefully) not at the detriment of midrange & treble capability; I'd describe the sound on the stock pads at the very limit of the compromise I'd tolerate between bass response/impact and the muddying of the rest of the spectrum. After my first day of solid listening on the stock pads, I already started thinking about the genres of music they'd be best suited to for listening, and they admittedly weren't my cup of tea - I typically prefer airy treble and midrange-focused sound signatures on open-back sets, but had an idea of what to expect. Then I swapped the pads, which took all of about 5 minutes (3-4/10 on my difficulty scale), and put them back on...If only every reviewer & Meze customer were able to get their first impressions of these headphones in THIS configuration, the admittedly already-high hype would be off the charts. Yes, the bass is still present and sometimes impactful, but the treble had significantly opened up and a surprising width revealed itself I didn't expect from closed-backs at this price and with this approach to engineering. Clarity in the upper midrange appeared out of nowhere and my understanding of the purpose of these things completely changed - I wore them for a straight 23 hours and listened to all genres of music in my library, completely surprised at how refined, capable, and versatile they were across the spectrum. The biggest surprise? I had no idea I could enjoy classical music so much on a pair of closed-backs, let alone at the price these sit at (ALL the time). That full day should be another testament to the folks at Dekoni - comfort is key. While I don't know whether the stock pads would have given me "glasses-ache" after longer sessions, I don't need to find out. The sound is so much more refined and enjoyable to my ears that this had become the only upgrade I'd recommend to anyone & everyone who owns the 99Cs, and possibly the Noirs if you believe the same experience might apply. These are understandably expensive pads (especially in sheepskin) direct from Dekoni, but at less than an additional 20% over the cost of the headphones themselves, they're a no-brainer.

Definitely Buy
They feel so much better than the original pads, I used to be able to only wear the Meze 99 for an hour or two at a time so I bought these knowing that I'd be wearing them a lot more in the future. I can now wear them all day.

It guarantees a better fit and quality.
This product, made of sheepskin, boasts superiority in design and performance over the existing one. If you are disappointed with the ambiguous fit and sound insulation of the existing pad, it will be the best solution to choose from.

Better materials quality, questionable sound
Had difficulties putting them on even after watching instructions video. Took me about 15 minutes. The sound of YouTube videos from notebook become more deaf. The sound from DAPs (Shanling M2s, iBasso DX160) is okay. Hard to compare with the previous ones, since I didn't want to go through putting them on one more time. Hope that natural leather will at least last longer than original. I also like that they're small, but still fit ears perfectly.

Perfect upgrade
So, I prefer the smaller pads that come with the 99 Noirs because of how good the bass response is. However, they're kind of uncomfortable for long listening sessions. The larger pads are more comfortable but alter the sound signature too much and the bass gets recessed. This is really the perfect compromise. The pads keep the sound signature of the smaller pads, but are WAY more comfortable for long listening sessions. Super happy I opted for these.

great upgrade for Meze 99 Noir
I've noticed a much "tighter" and "punchier" bass after rolling them in place of the bigger size ones the 99 noir comes with stock. I think the bass level is more or less the same (quite elevated) but I'd say the reverberation of the sound within the "earcup chamber" is much more controlled this allows the bass notes to be more defined and separated. At least that is my impression. In any case I like what I hear... seems to me a well worth upgrade to the 99 noirs!

These were a great upgrade for my Meze 99
I've used Dekoni pads before and have always found them to be well made and a comfortable fit for long listening sessions. These pads for the Meze 99 lived up to those expectations. I would highly recommend them to any person on the fence about getting a pair.

Small ear pads are better.
When the ear pad is attached to 99Noir, the bass and power are reduced.

nice upgrade for Meze 99
The Meze 99 overall is a fine headphone, with an engaging sound and excellent comfort. I have sold two more expensive pairs of headphones because I just reach for the Meze the most. It's also a quality build, with lots of metal, minimal plastic and walnut earcups, so I wanted to upgrade the pads. These are a bit thicker and a bit stiffer, and feel/isolate better than the stock pads (I had the larger ones). They have made my favorite headphones more enjoyable to listen to and live with, so if you have the budget, I recommend them.

An upgrade from stock
The stock pads are okay but mine started to warp over time (just stopped going back to full shape) and were slightly under-padded. I tried brainwavz - also good, but were maybe a little too padded. Relegated to my m50x now (major upgrade for those!) I'm a fan of Dekoni pads and these, once again, look like they came from the Meze factory and just enough padding to be better than stock without being overkill. Sound profile is only mildly altered to improve soundstage and balance of bass but most probably won't notice this as is not substantial. Overall they aren't "cheap" but I think they are worth it as I really enjoy the 99's and these pads only serve to improve the experience.
