Adding to a 50-year legacy of high-fidelity headphones, Denon has unveiled the AH-D5200 to rave reviews. The first installment in the brand’s “premium” line, the AH-D5200 features Denon’s proprietary 50-millimeter FreeEdge dynamic drivers to deliver detailed audio with next to no distortion and an impressive frequency-response range of 5 hertz to 40 kilohertz Read More
These really aren't that slammy in stock form to be honest, theres some bass quantity there but I'd just about say my HD600 hits as hard, at least perceptively, in the midbass. I'm really hoping attenuation rings can help the bass on these.
Sigh I really want to support Drop but I can buy the same headphone straight from Japan Amazon that will arrive in 3 days and is a little bit cheaper ($60,500 JPY so about $575 USD) and brand new too.
I most likely will get hit by import tax either case (Canada). So maybe this is a bit more appealing for US residents.
ElsidThis model doesn't use the bio-cellulose drivers but rather their FreeEdge dynamic driver. The 5000/7000/9000 made with Fostex all used the bio-cellulose, these however are not made with Fostex.
Jackstraw335Yeah they split ways after D2000/D5000/D7000, all the future Denon headphones are made by Denon themselves. However I did hear people saying the sound quality on the new D5200/D7200/D9200 exceed its predecessors.
lok777Yeah I saw them too $449 add $13 shipping
100% feedback appear to be closed box brand new
I can balance these with XLR but they are well below my price targets.
Would like the EXACT same thing, but with choice of Ebony, Walnut, Bubinga... Other woods, but otherwise, the EXACT same thing. Engineered leather, not sheepskin or real leather. For $600, must be picky. Still super satisfied with TR-X00 Ebony, so another pricey woody must be justified. If someone does not already have one of the Drop Fostex models, this is a juicy buy.
Wow, this price just seems to be elevated to me for what you get. I bought the big brother (7200) used for about 400 usd. In Europe also, the price fo the 5200 is less than 500eur and 7200 is 650 or so but under 700.
These are a poor mans TH 600, and they are absolutely not worth that price. Where I live you can get them for 200 bucks less than drop’s price!
What gives ?!
nidus123Yeah unfortunately the price point is not very appealing, I can order elsewhere about the same price too. Otherwise the headphone itself is suppose to be really good.
