Hi Everybody: I’m happy to announce today our Drop + Glycine “Soda Edition” Combat Sub, exclusive to Drop. It’s no mystery that we here at Drop have long been big fans of the Combat Sub, our best selling watch. For a while now we’ve been kicking around ways to do something special with it, and within this exploration soon emerged a very plain question: Should one even improve something that’s already pretty solid? The Combat Sub has long hit the marks: (1) a balanced design with an estimable heritage (2) formidable Swiss build quality (3) a serious dive watch that’s also a practical daily wearer and (4) an overall strong value. It soon became clear that we wished to honor the Combat Sub versus fundamentally change it. One thing that we’ve always loved here at Drop are vintage divers, which is why the classic looks of the Combat Sub hold such appeal. We also especially dig the color language of the period, most prominently Red and Blue color treatments for the bezel. In the ’60s and ’70s, many brands adopted this specific colorway such that watches with this treatment colloquially became known as “Pepsi bezel" watches. As a nod to this, we’re calling this our “Soda Edition” Combat Sub. Glycine enthusiasts may also note a very welcome return to the original Glycine logo. In addition, we’ve also added a cyclops eye magnifier over the date window, a functional retro touch that rounds out the vintage-inspired look of this piece. True to any Combat Sub Automatic, expect the same classic styling, superb finish levels, 200 meter (660 ft) water resistance, triple coated sapphire crystal, and a high beat 26 jewel Swiss Made automatic movement. The first 500 will feature an individual 3 digit serial number on the caseback, only available through Drop. We really hope you like it! Leo

Isn't pepsi bezel used in GMT/dual time watches? What sens have two colors in a classic diver bezel? Could someone plese explain? I also do not recall such bezels on any other watch, for what these two colors might be used?

This is without a doubt, the best "teamed up with whoever" watch drop we've seen on Massdrop in quite some time (maybe forever). The fact that it only exists as an illustration, rather than a real piece of steel at this point, suggests that this might not be something to get overly excited about (the best-laid plans of mice and men often go awry). That said, and aside from the lame name they've saddled it with (something Massdrop excels at), and assuming the bezel color depicted turns out to be what they actually produce, the only thing this Tudor Black Bay GMT (sans the GMT) is missing, are the snowflake hands--something that in my opinion would have have made this watch more difficult to pass up.

Since I'm anticipating delivery of an actual GMT watch (meaning one that already exists), I will, with few regrets, pass on this otherwise very nice computer generated, concept of a watch.

Is this really shipping on the 6th January? Or is this another wait a year type watch? Also, anyone bought this in the UK, how much did you pay as custom? Thanks

Yes I see, that's a shame ! But only can be noticed if you are really looking for it. Maybe that's the reason my bracelet was a "bitch" to remove; to coin a phrase. Just got of the Yema website , they have a good sale and great watches. Their current Superman GMT is around $1049 usd. very tempted almost the perfect GMT. Anyway better stop looking or might get myself into the naughty corner with the "Trouble and Strive"!!

JAoneWell, it only moves if I put a bit of pressure on it. Hopefully it still holds on the long term. Re GMT: I had a Steinhart Ocean GMT because I wanted a GMT and for like £600-ish a Swiss made watch with proper ETA 2893 it was well priced. It ran outstandingly, well within COSC , if I recall it correctly, about +3spd. After having it for a couple of months I just told myself, I don't need the GMT complication. I don't know. I'm still loving the look of that Airman GMT, the 42mm modern one, but honestly it's just an eye candy to me. Speaking of accuracy: this soda of mine runs +3-4spd so far, and I'm hoping an even better one, once it's run in period is over. Realistically it can settle down around the +2spd mark which would be awesome!
Hey everyone, quick update: Some of you have asked us about switching your existing Combat Sub "Soda" order to any of the new Drop + Glycine models we introduced on Tuesday, November 19th. See the bottom of this message for links and estimated ship dates.  We absolutely want everyone to be happy with their purchase and have therefore paused fulfillment for this watch very briefly. To anybody who wishes to switch to one of the currently running preorders, you have until Sunday night to go to the Transactions tab and cancel your current order (https://drop.com/transactions).  On the other hand, if you're happy with the Combat Sub "Soda" Automatic watch, then no action is needed and you should receive your tracking information early next week. :-) To reiterate, these watches are in our warehouse and ready to ship. Cancellations will no longer be possible once we resume fulfillment on Monday morning.  Thank you all for your feedback and patience. Have a great weekend! leopadron@leopadron Could you please explain why some people are receiving Sodas with numbers above 500. We were promised a limited run of watches individually numbered (for the first 500 only) with 3 digit number (this is what you reassured me personally in the comments in the role of Drop representative) . From the pictures people are posting we could see XXXX numbering from which we could assume there might be 9999 numbered pieces of the watch. Moreover customers are saying that they received 500+ numbers. To me this is not satisfactory and sound like false advertising. All participating in this particular drop, including myself, have lend you our money for a long time with the hope to be part of a limited run but for now it turns out it isn't. I have long waited for the watch and I hope I am wrong but will check the engraving on the back when it comes.

p3shkuI think I see what happened here. We had in fact, ordered 515 pieces. 500 for the run, several QC samples and coverage for future customer service. It appears Glycine serialized all 515 rather than 500 and then the +500 values got into the entire shuffle where they should have never existed. Four digit numberspace aside, that is the maximum run we did for the Glycine Soda model with the cyclops eye, and nothing further. These are available now because we made a switch available last month for the GMT models. But they are all part of the same 515 run. We regret any confusion. If you received a number above 500 and wish to exchange it for one below 500, please be in touch with customer service for an exchange.

to be honest a Pepsi or Coke dial on a non GMT watch is pointless. By adding to it the historically accurate but archaic minute markings for the first 15 minutes just clutters up a busy dial. That 15 marking hasn’t been used as decompression in almost 50yr. As for a date wheel, yes when I dive or am in combat knowing the date is so not useful.

Frankly I don’t care about the delays—I don’t like the watch. What pisses me off (among other things) is when yet another twenty-something, non-watch, MD wonder-merchant has the naïveté to say to our already long-suffering Watch Community members, something as annoying as: “...the watch now has a date window cyclops lens...This feature is a small magnifier over the date field and it enhances legibility.” Frankly, that sort thing makes me want to reach through the screen and grab someone by the throat and whisper softly in their ear: “WE KNOW WHAT A FUCKING CYCLOPS MAGNIFIER IS, YOU TWIT!!!” Or did you imagine people are coughing up four-hundred bucks for a watch because their phone died and they really, really want to know what time it is? Fuck me, who hires these people?

Yes, there is no hurry, I hope !!! The condition I have added to my other two "unseen" medical potential life threatening issues , is yet another invisible killer except this time I feel like a "Spartan", as there are only about 300 people in the country with it. It is extremely rare, I suppose like the LE Ingersoll, 93 of 300!!! Little but of "Karma" there!! I do like a little bit of uniqueness. I believe the Raymond Weil with original calf strap and fitted sports bracelet was $900, and the Ingersoll $350 plus post; because there may be different post options. The pick of this bunch though really is the fully Swiss made Panzera Breuer 43, $800, with the valjoux standard 7750 in it and the four strap option; maybe one of your friends maybe interested!! The movement in the RW is also a valjoux 7750 with in house adjustments! Not sure what but the standard has a power reserve of 42 hours and the RW in house movement 46 hours. The Ingersoll I believe is a 29 jewel seagull Ty movement with about 36 hours reserve, but in that respect the Seiko Alpinist blows them all away with a claimed 70 hours from it's 6R36 movement!! And that is a steal at $450 with the great straps I attached. I must admit taking more photos of these watches makes me a little "melancholy" as although I never really got to wear them ,except a few occasions here and there I can remember the reason I bought them: but such is life ,I would like them to go to someone who appreciates them. I have sent emails, did they get through JAone
