Really confused with this product. Once you get past the terrible accent color choice, you have a less "gamery" designed headset then a standard GSP 500 at a slightly higher price? If the rumored $170 price sticks and based on current prices of GSP 500s on amazon of course. Sure you do receive an extra pair of earpads at least but is it worth it? Especially with Sennheiser's newly announced soon to be released HD 560s this will be a tough sell overall for gaming.

azagarIt's realistically a more comfortable version of the GSP500, (assuming you're like most, who find the PC form factor superior to the GSP form factor), and it has an extra cable (worth $20+) and the extra pads (worth $20+). So you're looking at the PC37x that is similar priced, similar sounding, more comfortable, and more accessory-complete than the GSP500. A different way to look at it is, start with the very well selling PC37x at $120.. improve the drivers, add an extra cable, add an extra pair of pads, add the carrying pouch, and $170 makes sense. We think the PC37x at $120 and the PC38x at $170 compliment each other quite nicely. Also don't forget about the free gift if you're an early order :) I've been using this for 8 weeks now and find the cable swapping really convenient as I move between my working laptop (which needs the shorter straight through cable) and my gaming desktop (which uses the longer dual input cable that plugs into the back of my tower). Time will tell about the color, but fwiw I think people are over reacting to it. The color is not noticeable on zoom/hangouts due to resolution and the orientation of your head (unless you make a constant habit of showing the side of your head). Also, the product photos using studio lighting exaggerate/emphasize it in a very unnatural way. I do agree it's a pretty bold color choice (I'm biased but I like it), so it'll be interesting to see how it gets accepted. Our AKG K7xx eventually ended up with two color ways, black/black and then black/red. I'll try to post a zoom screenshot later.

KevinSo sell the PC38X also without all those accessories -extra cable (worth $20+) : Won't ever be using this with my phone, or console. -extra pads (worth $20+) : "Extra" being the only option? Why not instead: Choosing one? My pc37x pads are more than fine, I don't need a backup. -carrying pouch. : Cant be serious. I can see from the review photos its simply just a unpadded microfiber cloth, sewed in half. & I've thrown away more travel pouches then products in my life.. Sounds like the price can be lowered without all this stuff I have no use for, and I'll legitimately NEVER use. Sell an accessory kit instead maybe. This $170 price point has been a disappointment.

KevinHmmm I think I price increase on the improved driver and accessories makes sense, now I get it. Though the colour is still a hard sell because black/black and black/red are actually popular colours, where as black/yellow is not quite the same. A easy way to check is how many mechanical keyboards out there are red blacklit, blue backlit, white backlit..... and yellow backlit......? But as you said only time will tell.

KevinWhile I do agree that the design of the GSP 500/600 from Sennheiser/EPOS is terrible compared to the standard PC headset line both of those do include the dual 3.5mm jack and 4pole cable. If the yellow is here to stay then I personally think the drop designers should have picked a more muted gold yellow color like the one used on the very drop website. That would have been a logical choice instead of the standard bright yellow being used according to the product photos.

azagarIn any setting other than studio lighting, the yellow looks far more muted. Here's a quick screenshot from my hotel lobby.

KevinAwesome. I really appreciate the photo, and you're completely right. That's way more muted. Looks a lot better to me.

KevinMaybe less muted....but still gawd ugly. Of all the colors available to make a good looking gaming/audio headset, someone decided this dreary baby poo example to be the one....the same person should now be unemployed.

KigeroneAfter buying these, can confirm. Much more muted unless you are shining a light on it just like every reviewer in B Roll was.

KevinThanks for this view. Much more subtle and I think I'll like a lot better than some of the contrast-y photos I've seen.
