How do they compare to the Sony EX1000, which is what I am using now. I know they isolate way better. I don’t care about isolation though. Thanks!

expontheriseI own both the ER4XR and EX1000. They do pick out details slightly better but the ER4s are extremely cold/neutral, more so with the SR version. They are also incredible comfortable while the EX1000 sometimes cause my ears to ache. The EX1000 soundstage and overall presence is really something unique, don't expect the same musicality with the ER4s. One good thing is they always sound coherent with incredible instrument separation with whereas the EX1000 sometimes struggles with messier tracks.
I would consider them a sidegrade, with a fairly similar sound signature but each having the characteristic of their drivers (BA and dynamic).
