Love the balanced sound. Need a really snug fit to get any bass, though. I've since upgraded to the ER4XR and prefer those, but these are great for the money.
I was disappointed with these; the sound is pretty "dead" compared to some other phones I've got (I don't mean bass; just overall feel). The isolation is nice, if you get replacement/foam tips, and I use them for that (on planes)... where fidelity is moot anyway. The cords conduct lots of sound into your ears too, but this is pretty common among many types of in-ear phones.
They're fine; I expect that there are cheaper brands that sound as good and can fulfill the same purpose. I have heard other Etymotics that I recall liking more, so maybe this model is just the cheap version.
