I might be a bit more understanding had then not posted this a little over a week ago. Knowing that supply shortages were going on, they claimed that the items were still supposed to ship this week. I love how you all pick one problem with my complaint yet you conveniently ignore how they lied about how they were expecting the shipment.
MaxLightningAlways assume good intent. MD's mistake was they assumed certain things that ended up being wrong. Maybe I'm a bit more sympathetic since I've been in similar circumstances before. Live and learn.

Fuck you guys. You knew the order wasn't able to be fulfilled within 48 hours of the drop being completed and you didn't inform us? Even a week ago you were lying and blaming the lack of information on the supplier who you knew never even sent you the product in the first place. I heard this website was great but this is pure bullshit. A $10 credit on future purchases I do not intend to make is not something that will satisfy me. I want the god damn product I paid and waited for.

That's not quite true. Massdrop spent extra time contacting two more distributers in an attempt to deliver the product. They didn't know they were unable to deliver the order until those two other distributers got back to them.
davidfg4Reread what Mark said. Within 48 hours of the drop ending, they knew their distributor had no supply, yet Mark posted 6 days after the drop that the package should be on its way from their distributor (who had no supply). Nothing about trying to find more supply elsewhere. Either Mark was completely out of the loop and had no idea what he was talking about, or he was being intentionally misleading. In any case, just really bad communication on the part of MD.
The cancelled group buy doesn't bother me as much since screw ups do happen, and 2 out of 800 is a pretty darn good track record. But this was a clearly a case of poor communication and I hope MD improves on that going forward since I really love what they are doing.

After the group buy ended, we placed the order with one of our Fiio distributors. Unfortunately, they came back to us 48 hours later reporting that their inventory levels were too low to fulfill our order, and that they couldn't acquire more from Fiio in a reasonable amount of time. In the following days we contacted two alternative distributors and they also have reported similar shortages.
Before listing any group buy, we scrutinize and confirm inventory levels and pricing with the manufacturers and distributors. We had confirmed over 100 units available across multiple channels. Unfortunately these are no longer available to us which means we have to cancel and refund the group buy. Out of the 800 buys that we've run since inception, we've only had to take this extraordinary measure of cancelling a buy and returning money outright twice. We sincerely apologize for the disappointment caused by this.

You can tell us to wait, there will be another drop soon, but that creates a total time of months invested into this site waiting for a product to be shipped. This was my first drop, the credit you are offering is not compelling enough to trust you again.
