Product Description
A modern dress watch backed by more than 100 years of watchmaking expertise, the Glycine Combat Classic Open Heart automatic is a cross between a military aesthetic and something much more formal. The 24-hour markers and luminous hands, pips, and indices give the watch a bit of an edge; but the open heart and textured leather strap allude to its fancier side Read More

I'm not opposed to open heart watches but something looks off with this one strangely.

While pretty much everyone knows it by now, jewelry in general, but watch marketing photos in particular, are some of the most doctored, photoshoped, and downright criminally misrepresented marketing materials known to mankind! In other words, when buying a watch online that you've never seen in-person, the odds of you being somewhat or completely disappointed when you finally open the box, are quite real and something to always keep in mind. The best way to avoid that problem is to find a video or some alternative photos showing the watch more honestly and accurately. For example, compare this shot of the same damn watch complements of you pals at Jomashop:

True, MD's price is better, but Joma's photo appears to be more honest. Personally, I hate these open heart atrocities regardless of price or photo, but if they appeal to you, don't go by MDs dolled-up beauty shots--check out a few more sites (eBay is another source) to be sure, before you pull the trigger. To be clear, I'm only knocking the Lying SOB artwork and the Open Heart dials in this drop, not the brand or movement. I actually own this watch in the less gory, guts not exposed, and about to come poring out all over the floor, solid-dial version and it's one of my favorites. Most folks who own Glycines are pretty happy with them and I'm certainly one of them.

One last note: on the models above, where the dials are white/silver and the hands are slender and gold, in low light, or low contrast light, it can be a little difficult to read the time at first glance. If you're one of those guys who can't see shit anyway (and you know who you are), it's one more point to consider.

Well this is unexpected. A Glycine I can afford and yet do not want. Usually it runs the opposite.

It is a bizarre look, that is for sure. The jewel Eye of Sauron staring at you, all day.

dotcat007Yes, though not quite as dramatic, it would still be unnerving.
