I rarely used the actual charging feature of the device, but the USB C adapter made it possible for me to plug a controller in manually for use with games that require vertical orientation. I got multiple characters into the top 10 on Nick Extreme Tennis with my Backbone.
EDIT: removed one star. it broke the other day, actually pulling the plug out from the body due to too much tension on it. I used it quite a bit, but expected it to last longer and not experience the same issue with charging that most lightning cords have.
Great design very sturdy, but I couldn’t get it to power on. Wouldn’t work with my DAC and iPhone 13 pro. My unit that came had scratches all over it too.
VenkerHi,
It works with iPhone 13 Pro (Since we are using the model for testing). Have you tried changing an OTG cable?
Please remove the plastic protection on the adapter if you have not removed it yet.
If the adapter still does not work, contact d@cookie.moe for a replacement.
Thank you.
Looks Great, Works Sometimes, (Is Incredibly Fiddly)
This looked much more attractive than the official Apple USB camera adapter dongles I've been using to connect DACs to Apple lightning connector devices, but at first it wouldn't work at all. So I tried the Apple dongle, and my DAC worked, then went back to this one and it did indeed work. But I was only getting 24/48 rather than 24/96. Disconnected, killed music player, reconnected, got 24/96. So, yeah, looks good, works, but not as reliable as the official Apple OTG dongle. Oh well. (And who knows, maybe the blame is in the USB-C to micro cable vs. the USB-A to micro cable I use with the Apple dongle?)
UPDATE 1: I switched cables and updated my player app, and it is now working flawlessly for the time being. I'll keep my fingers crossed.
UPDATE 2: After living with it for months, I'm sick of dicking around with it every time my iPad refuses to see it. A device with a lightning connector that doesn't work with an Apple product is pretty hopeless, but we all knew that anyway, didn't we? I'm downgrading my review to 2 stars and a disrecommendation.
like a gem or pebble. It is high quality. I got the HIDIZS S3 Pro dongle DAC and the USB-C to Lightning adapter it came with is junk. Not this one! Soooo much nicer. really love my Luxury & Precision W2 DAC Btw…:
The description on this item, along with some of the commentary, was sort of misleading. I'm still not certain whether this device can be used for things other than audio. But for audio, it works well. And for the price, I can't complain.
Note: I do not have this device.
If it is like the Apple’s “USB camera adapter” it enables you to connect most USB devices that the LATEST Apple supports with the IOS. I know it does not work on older iOS for these uses (older then 12?) This include mass storage devices, mouse/keyboard/ audio devices/Ethernet - DAC. It opens up a lot of possibilities. The one negative for this adapter is power - if you use it for audio for long periods, the battery would drain. The other adapter I have has USB-A and a second port to provide power. I think you can use a USB dock, that charges, but that would be over kill on iPhone, maybe not a iPad for some dedicated use.
They were for the wife's apple phone not my android. The motive here was to give the wife a set of my headphones that I did not really care for clearing the way for my purchase of a really expensive pair.. worked out better than I really hoped for...AND..she still likes me for my effort on her behalf... I suppose Focal is the real winner here! Thanks Drop for the opportunity to better my listening experience.
yeggfromseattleThat’s great!!! May i ask what kind of earphones can you’re wife use over the otg adapter, i’ve tried with samsung AKG but have not had success. And congratulations on the Focal.
