This is my second IMR product purchase. I had been enjoying the previous generation of the same model, R2 Aten, that I picked up at Drop last year. After figuring out which nozzle/filter combination I preferred and finding the right eartips, I thoroughly enjoyed R2 Aten - it has ample bass, crisp highs, and a very fun v-shaped sound signature (I wouldn't monitor or mix with those obviously).
Now when the next generation of the same model came around on Drop, which by the way is just called Aten and not R3 Aten for some reason, I debated whether I would notice any difference. Nevertheless, I pulled the trigger and had about a month with these new Aten IEMs.
I am very happy to say that these new Aten IEMs certainly improved over the R2 versions in every way. Bass is more substantial without drowning out the rest of the sound; highs are a tad bit dialed back yet there is more ample space/sound staging. The fun v-shaped sound signature is still there. I am certainly very happy with my purchases and look forward to enjoying both Aten IEMs!
