From British pen maker Italix, the aptly named Chaplain’s Tankard fountain pen is made for easy filling. The convenient button fill mechanism means you’ll never have to take your pen apart to fill the converter inside. Just unscrew the plastic cone at the end of the barrel to expose the fill button, immerse the nib in ink while slowly turning the fill button counterclockwise, then turn it slowly back clockwise. If you prefer to use cartridges, you can insert them in this pen as you would any other. Measuring 5.5 inches long and weighing 1.4 ounces, this is a larger pen and a wet writer, with free-flowing characteristics. Plated in gold, the two-tone nib is adjusted, reground, adapted, polished, and dry-tested by Italix in England.
Note: At checkout, you’ll have your choice of nib size. See options in “Nib Sizes” below.
Note: If you search online, you may find conflicting descriptions about these nib types. Some of these are based on a misunderstanding, because the nib in such cases is being viewed from the back. We show the nib from the front. If you look at the back of the nib where the feed is, a left oblique will slant downwards from left to right, as is meant for right-handed people, while the right oblique will slant downwards from right to left, and is meant for left-handed people.
