Released in 1984, Koss’s Porta Pro was an instant hit for its portable, on-ear design and warm, smooth, detailed sound—and it’s still considered one of the best values in entry-level headphones to this day. Now, the Porta Pro Wireless takes the much-loved sound of the original and adds wireless Bluetooth compatibility Read More
Theyre not misleading anyone.
Wireless refers to the lack of wires between the source and the headphones. The fact the two earpieces are connected is irrelevant and most companies do the exact same thing through the headband.
I would of jumped on this but I cant deal with that darn wire hanging. Why could they not have spent a little more time and develop it into the headphone itself?
I'm sure there are many people that will be satisfied with the design dependent upon their individual use. I know usually when you want to gain something you usually lack in something else (cord being used gaining more battery room which increases time between charges). But in my situation, I would not have to have Bluetooth and it would just be short listening sessions so I would end up just using a corded Porta Pro and save the difference in price unless I was able to try the Bluetooth version to see if the cord had micro-phonics or aggravated me before I purchased them. Let me know what you think of them once you get them!
haroex1Yeah, headphones satisfy a specific set of needs for so many different people. Fit, Wired, Wireless, True Wireless, Soundstage, Appearance, On-Ear, In-Ear, Over-Ear, you name it, everyone's list of most important features is so different. I think like you said, people who REALLY appreciate the Porta Pro soundstage that's been so popular over the past 30+ years along with the portability and fit, will REALLY want these. They love Porta Pro and can finally throw their dongle in the trash....lol but like you said I think if having a bluetooth version isn't important or a need they will just stick with the wired version, or if the external battery and controls is an issue they'll get AirPods or whatever those crappy ones by Bose are...ha what's the saying.. different strokes for different folks! :)
mkossjrMaybe a variant of this can be designed that doesn't share the Porta Pro name exactly but hints at it a la the Koss Sporta Pro (which I also have in addition to the Porta Pro), and uses the same drivers as the Porta Pro and achieves a similar if not identical sound and integrates the wires into the headband and has a simple multi multifunction button and a rocker for the volume? We can dream.... :)
"it makes an ideal travel headphone" This statement is patently false. Have you ever tried to watch something or listen to music with a Porta Pro on a plane? It's impossible. These headphones are open which makes you rude because everyone can hear what you're listening to and all outside noise disrupts what you're listening to also. And now the wireless version adds a dangling wire (a first & last for headphones with a headband I hope) which makes it just as bad for travel as wired headphones. Also, its not even dirt cheap anymore because of the "addition" of wireless.

Have you ever owned PortaPros? They leak even less sound than most closed circumaural headphones. They're not ideal for travel because they they don't block outside noise, but they leak less noise out than standard earbuds.
RockyMountainsYes, I own the wired ones. on A plane, thanks to the issue you described, I needed to turn up the volume so high to be able to hear properly - and then at that point they leak enough to annoy the person next to you. I’m not saying they’re bad headphones but they are far from the perfect travel headphone.
Woah these look pretty awesome - but I'm hesitant because of how crappy the remote on the wired versions worked with my iPhone. That was solved with a pretty simple recable job, but not so much with these. If anyone has experience with wireless Koss devices working with iPhone, I'd appreciate some info on how well they work together.
Wireless Porta Pro is totally unexpected and cool!!
But anyone tried? How's the microphone as compare to wired one?
The location of microphone looks weird. Struggling between wireless and wired one...
My LG G6 supports atpX, and it's sometimes hard to tell the difference between the wired and wireless Porta Pros. I'd say the wired lean towards more bass/less highs and the wireless has better highs/slightly less bass, but I don't have a lot of hours on the wireless set and PPs tend to mellow a bit as they break in. I could also tell the difference when used with my phone vs. my non-atpX laptop. These also sounded pretty shakey right out of the box, but are coming around nicely. I read that Macbooks and iMacs support atpX, but if you used these with an iPhone you'd merely be using SBC. I can understand why some iPhone users are upset, but I'd also argue that the average Android and iPhone users don't care all that much (based on the plethora of terrible sounding Bluetooth headsets I've auditioned that other users seem to love). The Massdrop Audiophile Community member is certainly not the average user.
