Ive used this adaptor with my kovea spider and it was awesome. I also bought this for disaster preparedness. Having this adaptor gives me more flexibility to use different fuel types if the earthquake ever happens here in the PNW. Its heavy, but who cares if you're using it for car camping. And with prices for "backpacking" fuel skyrocketing even as gas gets cheaper, lets remember we're being ripped off when we buy our little backpacking canisters. So don't act surprised and get all in a huff when people figure out effective ways to save money on fuel and keep canisters out of the landfill. Maybe someone could link to a story of someone getting blown up refilling a coleman canister? I can't find one LOL

Yeah, the 5lbs tank I have is more for weekend trips to power my snowpeak GS1000. If it's a longer trip or for cold weather, I'll take the 20lbs tank and use it to run my Mr Heater Hero forced air heater and my Mr Heater Buddy to keep my camper shell on my Tacoma warm. I did this in 15f weather at Yosemite and it was fantastic. It got so hot I slept on top of my sleeping bag in my camper, outside we made an improvised kotatsu with a sheet of reflectix.
Epic ghettoness, but toasty warm when you realize you left the firewood at home.

I read the above comment about stove damage i.e. the Lindal valve stem pulling out on a Jetboil and was concerned.
I did an internet search and found a few other comments. On some stoves the stem of the Lindal valve isn’t quite long enough to engage the valve in the adapter. In that circumstance, some people have overtightened the adapter to get the stem to engage and stripped the threads off their stove (FYI, steel adapter threads + aluminum or brass stove threads = don’t overtighten.) One fix for the stem length issue was to use the tube from the handle of a q-tip to make a sleeve for the stem and slightly lengthen it.
Other comments said that the adapter worked with some stoves, but then not other versions of the same stove, apparently due to manufacturing differences.
Based upon this, I did some testing. I have a few stoves, including some Jetboils, so I wanted to know which stoves it would work with, and where a stove could be damaged. I also measured the length and diameter of the stems with a caliper first to avoid problems. (The measurements aren’t perfect because the caliper didn't always fit inside.)
Adapter key dimensions: Diameter of hole for stove Lindal valve stem: 4mm Depth of hole for stove Lindal valve stem: 3.5mm to valve, 4.75mm valve fully depressed
Jetboil Helios: Stem diameter is much smaller than 4mm (about 2mm), Stem length is 4.5mm. Stove worked fine with adapter.
Jetboil Original: Stem diameter is much smaller than 4mm (about 2mm), Stem length is 5mm. Stove worked fine with adapter.
Jetboil Flash: Stem diameter is very close to 4mm, so I see why it could get stuck and I didn’t try to test this stove with the adapter.
Jetboil Zip: Stem diameter is very close to 4mm, so I see why it could get stuck and I didn’t try to test this stove with the adapter.
Kovea Spider: Stem diameter is much smaller than 4mm (about 2mm), Stem length is 5mm. Stove worked fine with adapter.
Chinese stove similar to the Kovea Spider: Stem diameter is much smaller than 4mm (about 2mm), Stem length is 4mm. Stove worked fine with adapter.
Snowpeak Titanium Gigapower Auto: Stem diameter is much smaller than 4mm (about 2mm), Stem length is 5mm. Stove worked with adapter, but if turned up more than a little the gas pressure was too strong and blew out the flame.
Snowpeak Gigapower Auto: Stem diameter is much smaller than 4mm (about 2mm), Stem length is 5mm. Stove worked with adapter, but if turned up more than a little the gas pressure was too strong and blew out the flame.
Chinese BRS3000: Stem diameter is much smaller than 4mm (about 2mm), Stem length is 4.5mm. Stove worked fine with adapter. (BTW, these stoves are cheap and some people convert them to work with Jetboil cups.)
An old Richmoor stove from the 70s: Stem diameter is much smaller than 4mm (about 2mm), Stem length is over 5mm. Stove worked fine with adapter.
MSR pocket rocket: I don’t have one to test. In the internet search, this stove was often mentioned as having too short of a stem.
So my conclusion is the adapter works with most stoves, although manufacturing tolerances could make a difference even between the same model stove. You can pretty much eyeball whether a stove has a much fatter stem so that it shouldn’t be used with the adapter. If the stem isn’t too fat, but the adapter doesn’t work because the stem on the stove is too short, don’t overtighten to force it but instead make a sleeve to lengthen the stem.

This is not true. I have one and it does not work with all of them. I have 2 etekcity models of amazon that do not work with it, because they do not screw down far enough to set the pin. It works with my BRS3000, MSR Pocket Rocket, and Kovea stoves though.

nathannUse a Bic pen. It's well documented on how to make it work for other stoves. Though, some people might be afraid of fire so don't do this if you're afraid of stoves and fire and stuff.

I see now, this is the larger one that weighs a couple of ounces more. I suppose weight doesn't matter, since this is used for converting propane gas, which already comes in heavy containers. Good item to use for car camping and not wanting to lug around one of those heavy stoves.

Be careful! This adaptor can damage the gas inlet on the stoves, they have ruined 2 of my jetboil stoves. I want to like this adaptor but it damages some stoves while working fine with others. In my opinion it’s a defective and unreliable design, as you can see on line it only works with some stoves, not all stoves as per the claim on this site.

It’s real simple. A Jetboil or any other stove can screw onto any can of gas and work just fine, however if you screw your stove onto a Kovea adaptor it might work or it might wreck your stove.
All Kovea need to do is make their adaptor shaped more like cans of gas, a more tolerant design, and then the stoves might screw onto the adaptors without problems. However the current design of Kovea adaptors will probably destroy some stoves as the Kovea adaptor is not the same shape as a can of gas.
As as I said before, my Jetboil worked perfectly on a variety of cans of gas but the Kovea adaptor grabbed the brass nipple right out of the end of the stove - unrepairable damage resulted. On inspection it was obvious that the Kovea adaptor had a much smaller diameter hole in its centre than most gas bottles - the Kovea adaptor is likely to be an interference fit on many stoves while gas bottles are a clearance fit.
And as as I said before, a simple design change would mean that the Kovea adaptor would more resemble the shape of the gas bottles it’s meant to be replicating, and THEN the Kovea adaptor would function correctly and be an excellent buy.
I really want to buy one of these adaptors that actually works as advertised without risking destroying expensive stoves.

My stoves all work on MSR, Gigapower, Optimus and Primus cartridges. (all I can think of that I've tried for sure)The only ones I've ever had problems with are "some orange label" Coleman cartridges. So... I avoid Coleman.
With all the conflicting reports on this adaptor I'll have to avoid it too. Unfortunate since in theory, it's a good idea. Not worth risking throwing money away on something that may or may not work.
This shouldn't be a buy it and see situation. It should "Just work". And without having to "workaround" a problem that should never exist in the first place.
Hopefully a redesign is in the works. ◕‿◕

Is there any chance of adding the Kovea Cobra remote cannister adaptor to this drop?

I've found Kovea is much better priced than many of their competitors, and the two stoves I have (titanium and spider) are great quality and perform flawlessly. I'm happy to pay more for quality (especially for equipment I rely on in remote locations), and I can't get an amazon replacement easily- neither of the products you linked will send to Australia.

Here it is with a standard Coleman propane canister and Kovea Titanium Stove. Worked great.
I tried it with my MSR PocketRocket, it works there too. I tried it with two of my cheap Amazon Chinese stoves and one worked, while the other did not.

It is and I saw the adapter at Walmart for ~$17, but I would not recommend it. There shouldn't be a reason to refill the small ones, as they're already cheap, at $5 for a 2 pack at any big box store. So if you're car camping (the only time you'd bring one of these bottles due to their weight), I've used a small bottle to cook breakfast for 8 people with some gas left over. If you have more people, bring a bigger propane tank.

It's also hugely expensive. I run my 20lbs tank on my camping stoves when I'm car camping.
