I got my silver pair. In the past KZ has put their resources into drivers, then materials, then cables, then tips...then voicing. Meaning I don’t think anyone used to tune their stuff. But the last couple I’ve received from Linsoul have sounded very good for the price. Materials quality was up too. Cable and tips are still garbage but I plug them straight into a good balanced cable anyways. Stock cable doesn’t even come out of the plastic. Ear tips, I have a good variety in my tackle box to choose from. KZ intends for you to purchase aftermarket cables and tips so they don’t bother.
Back to sound. These are very wide to house all those drivers, yet still a little light on bass response. Not objectionable and very “EQ-able.” I was more worried about brassy minds and harsh sibilance in the highs but these are actually pretty clear and transparent. Not hi fi. But absolutely competitive in their price range. There are a couple single driver dynamic IEMs I would put in their class of sound quality for similar money. Can’t think of much in the lower brackets that can touch them except other Chi Fi offerings. Maybe the Tin T3. The T4 is absolutely there but it also costs a hundred. Some other refined and well voiced dynamics are there as well.
The KZ ASX is an important product for KZ. It says they’re moving uptown. This might be why it sounds a little better than their other best IEMs. I think they actually devoted some time and talent to driver matching and voicing these. Or I may have just gotten lucky if they’re still shotgunning it. This pair sounds very good, and they’re in that “heavy use” price bracket. Not so pricey I’m afraid to exercise or do yard work with them in, or take them with me on trips. I don’t take stuff that cost much more than this. I tend to baby them. These are going to be used in every non-critical-listening situation I can think of, either in balanced mode with my DAP or wireless with a pair of TRN Bluetooth dongles.
good stuff here.
SchorschiIt sure is. On paper. In real life I have several IEMs in the general price range with a lot more impact in the bass, even without the v-shaped “fun” signature. But the bass is there. The signature shows a dip in the midrange as much as solid bass. I can confirm that but the midrange still sounds good.
I recommend them.
Had ordered ZS10 Pros from Drop, but for some reason they had to drop [can't help :)] it. So, got $10 credit, and was looking for something to buy and they come up with this!! I ended up ordering the ZS10 Pro from Aliexpress. They are absolutely phenomenal iems (and not just for what they cost). I really liked tin T2s before, but these ZS10 pros are something else. Much better bass, better fit, better imaging and soundstage. Now KZ is coming up with 10 BAs per iem, I am really intrigued. Hope this time Drop delivers!! I am looking for something that beats $1000+ iems here. I am fan of KZ now. Watch out 64 audio, Westone, ....
AmJoshLet me just say, like I have said for the millionth time here and on every audio forum... Kz zsx sound 95% as good as my 500-1500 dollar iems. If these are an upgrade in any way, yes, these can compete with 1000 dollar iems. 64 audio who? Overpriced junk. Look at the founder of 64 audio he looks like a 17- year-old clubber from Russia, definitely not somebody I’d trust to NOT overprice his products/not innovate.
These carbon copies of flagship Knowles/Sonion armatures are said to be almost identical.
SinisterDevAs somebody who owns the Zsx, these probably sound equally as good if not clearer.
The only difference I can find between the Zsx and my thousand dollar iems is that the 1000 dollar ones sound 5% less dirty. Maybe the 5 BAs to replace the DD will bring similar bass but with less dirtiness.
even though I use that word dirty 99% of people would not be able to find a difference between thousand dollar iems and KZZSX for example. That’s literally the only difference, and it’s only 5%.
WordsandMusicYeah people keep sympathizing with these USA companies that charge 3 grand for subpar/out-dated tech in an iem (64 audio, Audeze i4/focal for headphones etc) if you just look at the price of the parts in the amount of hours it takes for them to manufacture a pair of headphones that costs you three grand it’s mind blowing how these guys get away with it.
At the end of the day it’s pretty blatant bs, if one place charges 1000 for something that costs 3500 in USA, something is wrong here. Especially even with the LCD i4, go look at how they make that headphone on YouTube it looks like it takes them no longer than a couple of hours, 2400 bucks, COME ON. In the video that shows you how they make it even, you can see the guy spilling solder over the diaphragm, plenty of users point it out. Nothing boutique about these overpriced iems, it’s just a scam, especially especially with cables.
hollowslyferExactly. $99 on the Linsoul site with free worldwide shipping. Plus a purchase on Drop guarantees a Customs charge for me in UK whereas most small shipments from China escape it.
