CohoSo, after a couple days with the La Figaro I must send out a few comments. First, If you are on the fence about purchasing this amp. Just do it. I’m sure many of you who have the Darkvoice, Little Dot, or any number of Tube amps that have been available on drop the last couple of years have been possibly considering the 339. This amp is flat out amazing.
I have this connected to a Schiit Bifrost that was currently available for hookup. I’m actually stunned by the sound and power as well as the no smell start up.
The packaging job definitely leaves something to be desired. However everything came pretty intact. Couple of the tubes were actually loose and out of packaging but thankfully intact. Upon start up actually had it by a window expecting a burning smell ...no smell. And even more importantly no buzz with any of my high ohm phones. I went straight to my Senn 800’s and was astonished with the beautiful smooth slightly buttery sound. The power and headroom on this amp has to be seen/heard to believe. You cannot turn my Beyerdynamic T1’s past 9 o’clock without wincing in pain from the volume of Diana Krall’s sultry lullabies. In all honesty didn’t do so well with my Audeze’s or Fostex but that’s what solid state is for. This amp is a hoot. Definitely buy if you like tubes. And this will also make a great first tube amp. Simple setup just weighs a ton.
