Product Description
The flagship models of the Little Dot series, the MKVI+ and MKVIII SE have a fully balanced architecture and impressive aesthetics to match. Audiophiles have compared these amplifiers favorably to high-end headphone amps like the Woo Audio WA22, and they’re designed to be used with high-end, high-impedance headphones like Beyerdynamics and the Sennheiser HD 800 Read More
I have had the solid state balanced amp by Little Dot (MKVII) for over eight years now and I am very happy with its overall build quality and performance. I believe the company is based in Hong Kong and their quality control is very solid. I am very interested in this amp, particularly, the MKVIII SE version.
I see that the following upgrades are available if you order a Mk8 SE unit directly from Little Dot:
Driver Tubes: JAN5965 (+160)
Mundorf Cap: (+177)
Teflon silver plated wire and
Silver solder (+299)
Ho, Ho, Hoo....Massdrop....any chance of making these upgrades available here on Massdrop as well....would make Great Sense, I believe...
I'm not sure what to think... From my moniker you might think I'm into tubes...and I am. Yes this a saucy little piece of equipment. As near as I can tell, the structure of the amp will likely yield a good balanced sound as far as tube amps go. On top of that, my first headphone amp was the Little Dot MT (Micro Tube). I selected that one, because the design and construction showed a great deal of respect for the sound. The power "brick" wasn't a wall wart. It was a substantially designed power supply isolated electrically. The construction was very good. All-in-all, I really liked the unit. It sounded good, tubey and with a healthy amount of authority. I'm now projecting this experience onto the amp offered here. I fear I can't be objective. Quick somebody, list some real world comparisons for me.
