How do you redistribute the filling material when it shifts into other pockets? My weighted blanket is now only weighted on the edge. The middle of the blanket lost a lot of the filling and is no longer "heavy".
anaerobicI generally see recommendations that suggest getting one that is about 10% of your body weight. I have ready several reviews from people who say they ignored this recommendation and purchased heavier blankets, and they wish they had purchased a lighter one.
MountainPassThanks for your advice. I did look at some websites that mentioned the 10% figure but i wasn't sure as to how the weight was distributed throughout the blanket.
I just bought 2 of these (at least same specs, weight, size and color) from my local Costco for $40 each (and no shipping because I bought them in person). That's after having looked at Amazon and also seeing them for $35-40 (with free shipping - and more color choices).
I'm amazed that people spend more on it here AND then pay additional for shipping? I guess people are swayed into thinking they're getting a good deal by the MSRP of $125.
MastiffMikeHappy to hear that you had a good experience at Costco! To play the other side I think people would rather pay a little more and not have to pay for a Costco membership, gas to go to Costco and back, and they save a bunch of time by buying it online not having to leave their house.
DshadiYep. I was there shopping for other items (not realizing that Costco sold weighted blankets) so it was a no-brainer. For people without Costco/Sam's Club memberships, there are stores like Target, BedBath&Beyond, Walmart, etc. etc. that all carry the same items that they could pick up the next time they're shopping.
Or, if someone wants to order online without leaving their house, all those places have free shipping (as does Amazon and many other online retailers that also sell weighted blankets for the same price as Drop). And that's shipped now, not a month from now like ordering from Drop.
TL/DR: Waiting a month for shipping from Drop gets you nothing.
Drop's price isn't better than most other places and they won't ship for 4-1/2 weeks, whereas ordering from anywhere else and you save the $19 shipping charge and you'll have it a month quicker!
TristanWilliamJamesVanBuskirkTristan,
This is washable but it is supposed to be hand washed in cool water and when dried, it should not be exposed to heat. It is suggested to use a duvet with this product so you can wash that instead of the blanket itself.
crafty35aIt's generally recommended and preferable to have the blanket about the size of the person rather than the size of the bed. If you've got two people you get 2 blankets. I know that's not ideal for everyone, but keep in mind different size people should use different weight blankets, and the way the distribution works out you'd need like a 50-60+lb blanket for a bed that large, which can be quite difficult to deal with. It's be like hauling around a bag of concrete. Haha
