ImBullseyealso interested to know more info on this as it would be a deal breaker for me if they had sacrifice performance just to bring down the price.

ImBullseyeDon't suppose you saved any links to the posts you're referring to? I vaguely remember some concerns about this issue around the time of the first drop, but as best I recall they were adequately addressed by Massdrop.
I do remember that an early prototype produced by the manufacturer in China was made using compatible components they had on hand rather than sourcing the proper BoM listed parts, and that caused a bit of fuss. But actual production units should have been made with BoM sanctioned components.
The only lingering doubt I have is that the parts are presumably being sourced in China, and I can't help but think that there's an increased chance of counterfeit parts in the supply chain compared to other countries. It all depends on how reliable their suppliers are I guess.
