It's too bad they kept the lanyard hole. Also, it would have been great if the attachment point of the clip were more integrated into the scale. That would have eliminated a noticeable hot spot. Overall, still a great design. Those two changes would bring that knife to a whole new ergonomic level.

The original run is bland and bead blasted. It takes a bright blue Sharpie quite well.

LukasMI haven't. But I will say my dull, bead blasted scales do show a number of scratches/"worm trails" from EDC. The anodized clip also shows wear. I'm fine with the signs of being carried all the time. I really enjoy having this knife and using it. It's a great length for most jurisdictions, it holds an edge quite well and it's pretty inconspicuous. If this blue color were to have a chance at longevity, they'd need to put some sort of clear Cerakote or something else to protect the color, if they haven't done so already. It will definitely show scratches/use. I will say this, since I carry it all the time, I don't notice the color. And, when I am using it, I'm too focused on the blade to notice the color of the scales hidden by my hands.
If I ever felt the need to restore the finish, I'd just have it bead blasted. The scales are small enough that if I did want a different color, I'd get a can of Cerakote (color of choice and clear coat), set the oven to 200 degrees F and play around with it. To get any color to stick, you do need to soak the scales in acetone overnight to draw out all the oils. The Cerakote would certainly last longer and look better than a Sharpie. But then again, that "rustic" look just might become all the rage!

Absolute joke of a price, Massdrop is getting greedy. Tuning a knife is something most knife guys will go on arrival anyways, what a joke.

RMunroI've seen videos of numerous Crux knives that got refinished by the Williamsons that are now able to spydie flick.
Their handle on how to make a knife work is not to be trivialized.

EvshrugI don't think so, it's just a refinishing with their skillful reassembly. I think a midtech needs to have at least some of the finish machining done by the custom shop.
This is like a third-halfway between a production and an actual midtech for sure though.

Very pretty, I love that anodized titanium-deep blue. There's something very pleasantly organic about it; I think it reminds me of the sky way out in redrock desert country. The blue sky looks VERY rich and blue contrasted against the orange-red of the upraised mesas and sandstone spires, without green vegetation to wash out the color or refract the light with its respirative moisture. At least I assume that's what causes the extra blue effect. Seems logical but that's 100% my own uneducated guess.
Incidentally, "deep blue like the desert sky" is how I described the color we were shooting for with some titanium scales I had anodized. The dude who did it knew just what I meant, and he did a very nice job on a knife maybe 1/3 larger than the Falcon. I had to disassemble it, but other than that extra step, the job cost $25, which included prep sanding. As others have mentioned: how is this version, pretty though it may be, $50 more than the previous one?
