ldavidfine900Being a Mitchell product the quality of the turntable should be much better than the Sony. Most Mitchell products are very high end, and the Mitchell name has been a long respected one in the vinyl community.
Sony, while being a quality manufacturer, is not known for high end sound reproduction while Mitchell is nothing but high end. To get a Mitchell turntable for under $300 is astounding.
UPDATE: Not the classic JA Mitchell Turntables. This turntable seems to have nothing in common except the name.
BaygulWell Mitchell is great, but Sony has made some great flagship headphones, DAC/amps, and I think their speakers are pretty good too, not to mention their full line of Walkmans (Walkmen?) are awesome.
but yeah, I don’t have personal experience with their turntables (or speakers) at this price point 😅 so I appreciate Baygul giving their impression!
ldavidfine900It’s way better. Better plinth, better tonearm, better motor, better cartridge, better platter and better for the environment because it uses about 90% less ABS plastic!
BaygulI think you are confusing Michell turntables with these. Mitchell Acoustics seems to have few products - this turntable, powered speakers. Reviews aren't great, either. Also, https://mitchellacoustics.us/ is either a dead site, or recently hijacked. This turntable is on the level of Monoprice or Parts Express/Dayton ones. While those come with AT-95, this one has the cheaper AT-91 cartridge. While better than a Crosley, this is still not a great turntable - but I'd love a review from someone who actually bought this one. The review that talks about the platter not spinning until the needle is past the first track wasn't encouraging.
