I really wanted to like these, but they were brighter than my tastes and sounded very thin. I tried multiple kinds of tips, cables, insertion depths, etc.... nothing would get over the fact that these lack a decent low end.
The Kanas Pros are a well built set of IEMs that sound really good. For a single dynamic driver setup they are pretty smooth but maybe a little shy in the bass. The soundstage is maybe a bit wider than expected. They are a bit heavy but stay in the ears as long as you have a good seal and over ear hooks.
I bought these to replace some well-used (and still intact) Etymotic EH-3(?) IEMs. I quite liked many aspects of the Etymotics- with the foam tips, they are very comfortable, isolate like no one's business and weren't fatiguing. However, compared to my HD-600s, they had literally NO bass. I actually wonder if they were damaged in some way, there was so little presence below 500hz.
These made a great replacement for those above mentioned IEMs. Now every frequency is spoken for and sounds very even (maybe too even for some). Additionally, there are basically no cable microphonics, better build quality, better looks, the list goes on.
The only real negative of these as I bought them is the supplied tips- they are borderline useless, and I considered returning the pair after a couple weeks of substandard sound and comfort. Thankfully I bought some Comply tips that fit, isolate, and sound much better than anything in the packaging.
I think the overall sound is highly acceptable- nothing really stands out to me, bass, minds, or high. None of my music sounds especially good or especially bad on them, which is exactly what I needed.
When I first opened these and gave them a listen, they sounded like I imagined. Then I burned these in for 100hrs like and I was amazed to what I came back to after a week.
After burn in, these are the sweetest and smoothest iem's to have. They sound like Winnie the Pooh in his room of glowing honey. From rap to pop to metal, they just kick ass.
Definitely worth saving up some money and brown bagging lunch for 2 weeks.
I bought this IEM to compare it with my O2. Both are single DD with a different cost. Really when the fitting is perfect and the cable is good its difficult choose the winner. Are both great IEM with V shaped sound. O2 are better for a more deep and round bass anf for a more ample Stage. Nevertless, considering that Kanas pro costs half O2, I think this is one of the best IEM under 150 USD.
I just got the Xelentos and too me sound very Heavy and dark. Very bass heavy and a lot of driver flex when inserting or sleeping.... Have you found the same? I got the Tin P1s and they are simply beautiful. All around except that they do like power
holsenNo. To me sound open with the right bass and very fun mid-high. High sometimes, depending on the track and on the DAP used can be sibilant. I don't have Tin IEM.
Never thought a pair of IEMs could bring me so much joy. Coming from recent KZs and the Tin T3, the KP has been a absolute improvement. I don't really have any complaints other than packaging and accessories. No syballence, more than enough clarity/staging/imaging, clear and extended bass. I listen to tons of genres and the KP works great across the board. I can listen to these all day where as T3s give me fatigue after 2-3 hours. (Classical, rock, hip hop/rap, country, electropop, Dubstep, Drum&bass, progressive, indie, jazz, rnb, folk)
Using tips from T3 or New Bee.
If I had to describe these in one word: FUN!!!
Very curious how these will compare to ZS10 Pros that are coming soon. I don't expect KP to lose to these but the added drivers and improvements from previous KZ models would make an interesting comparison to the Tin T3s.
