Product Description
New from respected audio company NF Audio, the NA2 IEM delivers detailed sound in a lightweight package. While most IEMs use dynamic drivers with only one back cavity, the NA2 comes equipped with double-cavity dynamic drivers, which control air pressure more precisely to smoothen diaphragm movement, widen the soundfield, and improve detailing across all frequencies Read More

Confusing treble, abundant subbass, good imaging, great cable.
Pros:
Fantastic bass that reaches deep without being muddy.
Imaging and soundstage respond very well to crossfeed, creating a near-field type sound.
Cable has great weight/density and lanky-ness, feels great to handle.
Packaging is professionally overkill and goes to Apple levels of presentation.
Solid material choices and build quality for all components and accessories.
Really easy to drive on mobile and on desktop.
Good concha/anthelix fit and gets an A+ for avoiding the tragus/antitragus. (It is very clear they know how to make well fitted iems; many iems press the heck out of my tragi like a subway at rush hour and dig into my outer ears like a doorstop.)
Cons:
Bass is overwhelming and makes me want to take a break every once in a short while. (I was glad I was not greeted with treble murder like most chifi, but it ended up being the opposite end of the audio spectrum that bothered me the most.)
Treble is confusing; contains grain and shout while also being recessed.
There are subtle peaks and resonances throughout the mids and treble that keep it from being a smooth listen. (Points of issue are at 700hz, 1100hz, 3900hz, 6350hz, and 9300hz. Source, my ears and a tone generator.)
Way too easy to drive on mobile and desktop. (Unable to find a comfortable low spot to prevent hearing damage or listening fatigue.)
The tightness of the earguide and ear anatomy like shape causes pressure hotspots to form over time and can cause a desire to remove the iems due to comfort issues. Not a knock against materials, it is very skin-safe, just kind of like wearing a size of shoe too tight. Perhaps I have been spoiled by final audio e2000 fit.
Thoughts:
The thing I value the most in this package is the cable. I would buy it separately if I needed a good cable.
I would like to try the bass tips, but the balanced tips are already too bass strong, and I fear what would happen if I put on the bass tips.
The zipper on the provided carry case is janky and not smooth, but no one said it was ykk.
The audiophile who enjoys blon and kz sound signatures may come to enjoy this signature for the bass, but will be disappointed by the lack of treble air and will not notice that the treble detail is actually still good.
The audiophile who enjoys Sennheiser and Japanese iem brands may come to enjoy this signature for the imaging, but will be left confused about the odd treble tuning and overwhelming bass.
After eq, the shout and peaks are mostly tamed, but leaves the bass to further dominate the signature. Adding in a low pass filter may help with the bass, but the overall spl will still be too loud, and adding in a negative preamp at this point is just too much work for the cause.
These iems are best used on the go or in transit (subway, bus, etc.). Isolation is not great, but the high spl will drown out the noise, and the outside noise will help mask the peaks/shout/bass of the signature.
Venous hum is apparent when no music is playing and sitting still, can be bothersome.
The general consensus of the reviews from head-fi are accurate, I just didn't realize what I thought was going to be desirable ended up being what I subjectively disliked in the end.
In Conclusion,
I respect the company for the ambition behind great packaging and presentation, as well as aiming to tune the signature with relatively smart intentions. Strong clean bass, smooth mids, tamed treble with retained detail; all of this sounds great on paper, right? In practice, it is too heavy on the bass and the treble ends up being very hypocritical in nature. If there was less bass, more air, and less detail, then this would be more ideal to my ears.
I was not 100% sure I would like these but they have impressed me so far. The fit and comfort are excellent. The sound is rich and full with a V shape sound profile. I ordered the clear which is not truly clear but more a translucent white. The included cable is kind of cheap feeling but seems to be of decent quality. I'll likely get an upgrade as I did not have a spare QDC cable. The Tripowin C8 or Zonie will do the trick.
I was confident enough to purchase two pairs just in case the reviews were accurate. Well the reviews were spot on, They sound fabulous, and they come in my favorite color, Purple. I've used these with and without a DAC the sound is obviously much enhanced with a DAC. but plugged in directly to my Mac Book Pro they sound great. I let my 19 year old listen to these IEM's and let's just say it's a good thing I purchased two pair.
